Amphibian Stage Announces Cast for 'THE NOSEMAKER'S APPRENTICE', Running 7/10-8/10

Amphibian Stage Productions today announced casting for its third main stage production of the 2014 season, The Nosemaker's Apprentice: Chronicles of a Medieval Plastic Surgeon. Jay Duffer, John Forkner, Alexandra Lawrence, Brandon Murphy and Scott Zenreich will star in this comedy, running Thursday, July 10 through Sunday, August 10 at Amphibian's Berlene T. & Jarrell R. Milburn Theatre at 120 S. Main Street. David A. Miller will direct the production.

UCT Drama Opens Autumn Season at Rosebank Theatre on 30 April

The University of Cape Town Drama Department is staging their Autumn Season at the Rosebank Theatre. Three productions, all directed by the prolific Christopher Weare, will be performed between 30 April and 17 May 2014.

Second Thought Theatre continues its 10th anniversary season with the highly acclaimed play Nocturne by Adam Rapp. Miranda Parham makes her directorial debut with Nocturne, in which a former piano prodigy recounts the haunting incident that tore his family apart. Nocturne begins with previews today, April 2 and runs through April 26 at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus. Tickets to Nocturne are on sale now.

SMU Meadows Theatre Professor Blake Hackler Receives Fulbright Scholars Grant

Blake Hackler, assistant professor of theatre at SMU Meadows School of the Arts, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholars Grant to conduct teaching and research in Bulgaria. Hackler will be in residence at New Bulgarian University in the capital city of Sofia from January through June, 2015, where he will teach and direct theatre, focusing on physical acting techniques. He will also observe and work with the Sfumato Theatre Laboratory, an internationally recognized theatre based in Sofia that produces highly physical interpretations of classic plays.

Dallas Theater Center announced today the award-winning cast and creative team for the world premiere new musical The Fortress of Solitude, a co-production with The Public Theater in New York City. The Fortress of Solitude is based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by 2005 MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Lethem. The musical is conceived and directed by Daniel Aukin, with a book by Itamar Moses, and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman.
