Seanachai Theatre Changes Name to Irish Theatre of Chicago; 20th Anniversary Season Announced!

Seanachai Theatre Company is pleased to celebrate its 20th anniversary season with an official name change to Irish Theatre of Chicago. The 2014-15 Season will include Conor McPherson's haunting drama SHINING CITY directed by ensemble member Jeff Christian and the world premiere drama THE WHITE ROAD by founding ensemble member Karen Tarjan, directed by ensemble member Robert Kauzlaric.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company's ninth annual First Look Repertory of New Work, features three developmental productions of new plays, presented in rotating repertory through August 24, 2014 in the Garage Theatre (1624 N Halsted St). First Look 2014 includes: Ironbound by Martyna Majok, Hushabye by Tanya Saracho and Okay, Bye by Joshua Conkel. The 2014 festival also features readings of two new plays, American Beauty Shop by Dana Lynn Formby and Opium Den by Julie Marie Myatt. Tickets to First Look Repertory of New Work ($20) are on sale now. To purchase tickets or RSVP for the free readings, call Audience Services at 312-335-1650. Strawdog Theatre Company concludes their 25th anniversary season with Big Love by Charles L. Mee, directed by Strawdog Artistic Associate Matt Hawkins, April 18 - May 25, at the Strawdog Theatre, 3829 North Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Thursday, April 18,, Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 4 p.m. There is a board preview benefit performance, Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception. Tonight's October 18th performance of Trainspotting USA, Tom Mullen's "re-adaptation" of Harry Gibson's stage versions of Irvine Welsh's classic novel Trainspotting will include a post-show talkback with Mullen and Welsh, moderated by Tara Branham. The talkback will begin immediately following a 7 pm performance at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago.
