As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Disney Channel is getting ready to return to East High one more time. A nationwide casting search has begin for a planned Disney Channel Original Movie, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 4, that will continue the story of the global sensation HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL - and introduce new East High Wildcats and their cross-town school rivals, the West High Knights.

Actor Stephan James ('Race,' 'Selma') has been cast in a lead role in SHOTS FIRED, a dramatic new event series from Gina Prince-Bythewood ('Beyond the Lights,' 'The Secret Life of Bees,' 'Love & Basketball') and Reggie Rock Bythewood ('Beyond the Lights,' 'Notorious'), that examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town in Tennessee.

The winners of the “47th NAACP Image Awards” were announced tonightduring the live broadcast from Pasadena Civic Auditorium which aired on TV One (9-11 p.m. ET live/PT tape-delayed). The two-hour live special was hosted by Anthony Anderson.

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) has ordered SHOTS FIRED, the dramatic new event series from Gina Prince-Bythewood (“Beyond the Lights,” “The Secret Life of Bees,” “Love & Basketball”) and Reggie Rock Bythewood (“Beyond the Lights,” “Notorious”), that examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town in Tennessee.  The event series will debut in 2016.

Just last night, the American Theatre Wing hosted its annual Gala at The Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South), honoring legendary actor James Earl Jones. Mr. Jones is a two-time Tony Award winner, two-time Obie Award winner and alumnus of the American Theatre Wing Professional School. CeCe Black, Anki Leeds, and Marva Smalls will serve as Gala Chairs.

Taye Diggs will return to Broadway this summer in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the 2014 Tony Award winning Best Musical Revival. Diggs will play the title role in the acclaimed musical for a limited 12-week engagement starting Wednesday, July 22 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street).

Launching the careers of a then-unknown set of teenagers, lots has happened to the cast since the last film wrapped in 2008. Much of the cast has continued in the musical tradition of the trilogy, taking on various roles in other musicals on stage and screen. Later this Spring, Vanessa Hudgens will become the second of the group to make her Broadway debut, as the title character in Gigi. Previews begin tomorrow night, Saturday, March 8, for the return to Broadway of Tony Award-winner and two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, starring as Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN. This new production begins previews nearly 55 years to the day that A RAISIN IN THE SUN had its Broadway premiere (March 11, 1959) at the same theatre, the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street).
