The Baltimore Playwrights Festival announces the opening of its 34th Season with Commander tonight, July 10 at 8 p.m. at the Vagabond Players at 806 S Broadway in Fells Point. Written by Mario Correa and directed by Chelsea Dove, Commander tells the story of the first openly gay man to run for the office of President of the United States.

The Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest officially opened last night, June 16, and runs through Sunday, July 5, 2015. In The Tempest, Shakespeare's classic about young love, old enemies, and the eternal magic of storytelling, Prospero, exiled to a fantastical island, unleashes a churning storm to shipwreck the traitor brother who stole his throne and settle the score once and for all. But bitter revenge is upended by newfound love in this sublime masterpiece that proves we are all 'such stuff as dreams are made on.'

New York's funniest show Celebrity Autobiography has added Brooke Shields, Jackie Hoffman, SNL's Sasheer Zamata and a show on June 8 at 7pm at The Triad (Stage 72 -- 158 West 72nd Street) following its scheduled shows on 6/1 at 7pm and 6/6 at 9:30pm which will celebrate Broadway and the upcoming Tony Awards. Turn to Flesh Productions has announced that it will present IN FLIGHT, a new verse play (in rhyming couplets) about a woman with a literary background navigating the corporate world at the offices of an in-flight airline magazine, May 9 - 23 at The WorkShop Theater, 312 West 36th Street, Fourth Floor East (between 8th and 9th Avenues). The production, written by Jenny Lyn Bader and directed by Jessica Bauman, will have its official opening on Thursday, May 14th at 8:00PM.

The new Broadway musical An American in Paris is now in previews and just opened last night, April 12, 2015 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). An American In Paris is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. Inspired by the Academy-Award winning film, An American In Paris brings this classic tale to Broadway for the first time with music and lyrics by George Gershwinand Ira Gershwin and a book by Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas.
