VisionIntoArt (VIA), the non-profit company founded by Brooklyn-based composer Paola Prestini, is pleased to announce the launch of a record label, VIA Records, with three inaugural albums this fall. The formation of the label expands upon VIA's already vast body of work, which, over the last ten years, has included commissioning and producing new music by a wide range of artists. VIA Records will help to broaden the canon of new multimedia works through the commissioning and recording of artists on VIA's roster.

Kansas City Ballet will present the 4th Annual KC Dance Day at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity today, Aug. 23rd from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The full day will feature FREE dance performances, classes, demonstrations, giveaways and FUN for the whole family.

This dynamic duo takes the place of actor Jayne Atkinson, who needed to bow out to attend the Emmy Awards In Los Angeles.

The Hilberry Theatre will kick off its 52nd Season of plays on September 19 with the popular farce Boeing Boeing. The season features comedies and dramas that collectively earned 19 Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations. Season tickets are on sale now.

American Opera Projects and LivelyWorks present Two Premieres and a Reunion, a special evening of music by composer Conrad Cummings Wednesday September 10th, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at The National Opera Center, 330 Seventh Avenue, Manhattan.

The nationally acclaimed string quartet ETHEL commemorates a decade serving as the Ensemble-in-Residence of the Grand Canyon Music Festival's Native American Composer Apprentice Project (NACAP). Since 2005, ETHEL has been extending the gift of music to the underserved and rural communities of the Navajo and Hopi Indian reservations. To date, ETHEL's residency has impacted almost 18,000 students, premiered over 150 works by Native American children, and touched more than 15 schools throughout Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. Smuin Ballet will kick off its 21st Season in October at San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts Theatre with its Untamed Dance Series. The program features the West Coast premiere of Serenade for Strings by Wonderbound (formerly Ballet Nouveau Colorado) Artistic Director and choreographer Garrett Ammon, set to Tchaikovsky's breathtaking score. Also on the Untamed bill is Objects of Curiosity, an evocative ballet by Choreographer-in-Residence Amy Seiwert, set to a delicate score by Philip Glass and Foday Musa Suso. Smuin Ballet also brings back the tempestuous story ballet Frankie & Johnny. (NOTE: this ballet contains material that is intended for mature audiences.) San Francisco Opera presents the Company premiere of Carlisle Floyd's two-act opera Susannah September 6 at the War Memorial Opera House. Soprano Patricia Racette returns to San Francisco Opera in her role debut as the innocent, strong-willed and falsely accused young woman Susannah Polk.

This is top quality opera in every direction, no matter what criteria you care to judge it against. Timothy Sexton and Leigh Warren have pulled of a major coup.

The Guthrie Theater today announced casting for the first production on the Wurtele Thrust Stage in the 2014-2015 season, Wendy Wasserstein's Pulitzer Prize-winning play The Heidi Chronicles. Under the direction of 2014 Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman (Broadway's Violet, Chinglish, Well), The Heidi Chronicles will feature the talents of Kate Wetherhead, Ben Graney, Tracey Maloney and Zach Shaffer, as well as Sam Bardwell, Eleonore Dendy, Mo Perry and Stacia Rice.

The opera has no plot or narrative, but offers sketches, suggests thoughts and, perhaps could be best described as an impressionist opera.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
