Juilliard Dances Repertory presents repertory works by acclaimed choreographers Murray Louis, Juilliard alumnus Paul Taylor, and William Forsythe, Wednesday, April 3 - Sunday, April 7, in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Jazz musician great Dave Brubeck died this morning, Wednesday, December 5 at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut. His longtime manager, producer and conductor Russell Gloyd revealded the news to the Chicago Tribune.

American jazz legend Dave Brubeck, who celebrates his 91st birthday today (December 6), reached another milestone recently when Time Out, his 1959 watershed masterpiece, was awarded Double Platinum status by the RIAA in recognition of sales of more than two million copies in the United States.

Released in advance of jazz legend Dave Brubeck's 90th birthday on December 6, Dave Brubeck: Legacy of a Legend, the artist's recently released two-disc compilation of tracks from 1954-1970, bulleted 18 positions, from #19 to #1, on the CMJ Jazz Top 40 chart.

After 37 years, Jack Kleinsinger has decided to end his 'Highlights in Jazz' concert series. May 13, 2010 (the 300th concert of the series) will be the last 'Highlights' show. Kleinsinger notes that his decision was not an artistic one, but a financial one: 'If someone can come up with the financing necessary to produce the annual series I'll continue,' he said. 'But with cuts in arts funding and private sponsorships for jazz down it's not likely I'll continue.'

One of the works, Ansel Adams: America (in its New York premiere) by jazz great Dave Brubeck and his son, Chris, will feature 100 projected images by the eminent American photographer. The all-American program also includes works by Bill Cunliffe (also a New York premiere), Samuel Barber, and Leonard Bernstein.
