Glenn Close to Reprise Stage Role in Film Version of 'Albert Nobbs'

Glenn Close will reprise her stage role in the upcoming film, 'Albert Nobbs.' Close will star, produce, and has co-written the costume drama. The rights to the film are currently being sold by production company WestEnd Films in Berlin.

Terry Prachett's NATION, filmed live at the National Theatre in London, will be broadcast by satellite to cinemas worldwide on January 30th. NATION is the third play in the pilot season of NT Live, the National's ground-breaking initiative which launched in June with the hugely successful broadcast of Phedre with Helen Mirren, which was seen by 50,000 people in 19 countries around the globe.

RIALTO CHATTER: HABIT OF ART Headed for Broadway in 2011?

The UK Daily Mail is reporting that Alan Bennett's The Habit of Art is hoping to move to Broadway in the Spring of 2011. The production began playing at the National Theatre's Lyttleton Theater in November 5, 2009 and will be broadcast in April 2010 live to cinema screens worldwide. It's expected that the leads, Richard Griffiths, Alex Jennings and Frances de la Tour would accompany the production as well.

HBO Films will present the premiere of Caryl Churchill's A Number, which Churchill has adapted for the screen for the broadcast giant. The telefilm stars Emmy Award-winner Tom Wilkinson and Rhys Ifans in this shattering meditation on human identity, as it examines the issues of human cloning and nature vs. nurture. A Number premieres on HBO Signature on Tuesday, December 29 at 9pm.

Griffiths will be taking over the role of poet WH Auden opposite Alex Jennings as Benjamin Britten. Michael Gambon is said to be withdrawing from the production due to health reasons. The Nicholas Hytner-directed production is slated to begin previews on November 5.
