This warm and witty American classic, opening tonight, November 7, explores the turbulent relationship between father and daughter, the generation gap between young and old, and the challenges facing a couple in the twilight years of a long and happy marriage. Ten Chimneys Foundation has announced the ten actors who will participate in the 2014 Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship Program, a widely acclaimed national program to serve the future of American theatre. July 13-20, the Lunt-Fontanne Fellows will join Master Teacher David Hyde Pierce for an intensive, weeklong master class and immersion experience at Ten Chimneys, the National Historic Landmark estate of theatre legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in Genesee Depot, Wisconsin. It's opening night of David Goldstein's SKIING ON BROKEN GLASS at the Guthrie and as the play forms around me, it feels all too familiar-a love that makes no sense, an escort, unsupportive peers, and a constant battle of conscience. The play is just a little expected but in the end it leaves you with something to chat about by the water cooler and captures a few very real moments that make it all worthwhile. (more...)

The Guthrie Theater today announced the cast and creative team for David Goldstein's moving drama Skiing on Broken Glass. The play premiered in the 2010 Minnesota Fringe Festival to sold-out crowds and was selected for the Fringe Encore series. Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling helms a new, expanded version of the play featuring additional characters and accompanying storylines. Skiing on Broken Glass begins performances in the Dowling Studio on October 29. (more...)

The Guthrie Theater will present Arsenic and Old Lace, Joseph Kesselring's classic comedy that kills with kindness. As previously announced, the incomparable Sally Wingert returns to the Guthrie stage for the first time since last season's Faith Healer, joining acclaimed comedienne and Broadway veteran Kristine Nielsen to play the pair of well-meaning sisters, Martha and Abby Brewster, respectively.
