In one of the most highly anticipated openings in recent Broadway memory, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark officially celebrates their opening night on Tuesday, June 14 th at the Foxwoods Theatre. The show features creative consultation by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), original direction by Tony® Award-winner Julie Taymor (The Lion King, Across The Universe, Frida), music and lyrics by 22- time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge, and book co-written by Taymor, Glen Berger (Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, "Big Love"). All but a few papers have filed reviews timed to tonight's performance which was, until the most recent delay, scheduled to be the show's opening night. According to an article by Baz Bamigboye for UK Daily Mail, If Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark ever makes it to the West End, Brittish film actor, Matthew James Thomas will star as Spidey himself. Thomas is currently the alternate for the role on Broadway.

The New York Times reports today that Brittish film actor Matthew James Thomas will likely share the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man with Reeve Carney for the upcoming Broadway production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Thomas will take on the role twice a week due to the demanding nature of the part. The Times notes that Carney will play all of the production's preview performances. Thomas would step in twice a week beginning after the show's opening on January 11, 2011.

Because they saw only some of the dozens of aerial stunts in the show, delays in the opening are likely. If the Department of Labor approves of the rest of the stunts in the next 10 days, then performances will begin on November 14.

Michael Riedel reported in this morning's New York Post that SPIDER-MAN's Kevin Aubin, one of several performs said to be appearing in a SPIDER-MAN outfit had broken both of his wrists during a small presentation for ticket brokers and group sales agents last week.

Recently, the Associated Press was invited inside the Foxwoods Theatre to observe SPIDER-MAN in rehearsal. As reported on ABC News today, reporter Mark Kennedy reveals that the production will feature '41 cast members, 18 orchestra members and about 18 new songs by U2's Bono and the Edge.' The spared-no-expense 60M production also features a circular conveyor belt and high-intensity arial choreography by Cirque du Soliel.

On September 10, Spider-Man Reeve Carney introduced the first song from the upcoming Broadway show, 'Boy Falls From the Sky' on Good Morning America. Carney performed the song, composed by Bono and The Edge at the Hudson Theatre in the Millennium Hotel, with the performance broadcast live during the 8am-9am hour.
