MCC presents Escape, 6 Ways to Get Away

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director, John G. Schultz, Executive Director), one of New York City's leading Off-Broadway theater companies, will present 'ESCAPE: 6 WAYS TO GET AWAY,' a benefit evening of one-act plays written by Jon Robin Baitz (Ten Unknowns), John Guare (Six Degrees of Separation), Peter Hedges (What's Eating Gilbert Grape), Neil LaBute (The Mercy Seat), Tim Blake Nelson (The Grey Zone) and Wendy Wasserstein (The Heidi Chronicles). 'ESCAPE' will be held on Monday, December 6, 2004, 8pm at Broadway's CIRCLE IN THE SQUARE THEATER (1633 Broadway at West 50th Street, NYC).

Schultz, Executive Director) will re-team with NEIL LaBUTE for the world premiere of his latest work, FAT PIG starring in alphabetical order: ASHLIE ATKINSON (Theresa on F/X's 'Rescue Me'); ANDREW McCARTHY (Broadway: Side Man; feature films: Less Than Zero; Pretty in Pink; St. Elmo's Fire); JEREMY PIVEN (Ari Jacobs on HBO's 'Entourage') and KERI RUSSELL (Golden Globe winner for WB's 'Felicity'). Jo Bonney (Living Out; Fifth of July) directs.

Previews begin tomorrow, Friday, October 22nd for 'NIGHT, MOTHER at the Royale Theatre (242 West 45th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue). BRENDA BLETHYN and EDIE FALCO star in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by Marsha Norman, and directed by Michael Mayer. Produced by FOX Theatricals, Harbor Entertainment, East of Doheny, Terry E. Schnuck, Amanda Dubois, The Araca Group, Ruth Hendel, Hal Goldberg and Wiesenfeld/Meyer. 'NIGHT, MOTHER will officially open Sunday, November 14th.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) has announced the songwriting teams and performers for the Songwriter Showcase on Sunday,October 3rd, as part of its 16th Annual Festival of New Musicals, which will be held at the new DODGER STAGES this coming Sunday and Monday.
