Zoe Lister-Jones to Join Jeff Goldblum, Justin Long in SEMINAR, 4/3

Zoe Lister-Jones (The Little Dog Laughed, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, her own Codependence Is a Four-Letter Word, Salt, Breaking Upwards, NBC's "Whitney," Fox Searchlight's upcoming Lola Versus) will join Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Jeff Goldblum (The Pillowman, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") and Film and Television star Justin Long (He's Just Not That Into You, The Break Up, Live Free or Die Hard, Dodgeball, "Ed") beginning Tuesday, April 3 in the cast of the Broadway season's hit comedy SEMINAR by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Peabody Award winner Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Omnium Gatherum, "NYBD Blue," NBC's new hit series "Smash").

Off-Broadway's The New Group honors David Rabe and Nancy Manocherian, founding Artistic Director of the cell theater in Chelsea, at the company's 2012 Gala, hosted by Janeane Garofalo & Morgan Spector. Rabe and Manocherian are recipients of the sixth annual Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater. Founded in 2005, this award recognizes individuals who show outstanding commitment to the theatrical community. Past recipients include Wallace Shawn, Fred Wistow, Robyn Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Ruth and Stephen Hendel, Wendy Ettinger and Derek McLane.

Justin Long to Make Broadway Debut in SEMINAR April 3

Film and Television star Justin Long (He's Just Not That Into You, The Break Up, Live Free or Die Hard, Dodgeball, "Ed") will make his Broadway debut when he joins Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Jeff Goldblum (The Pillowman, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") beginning Tuesday, April 3 in the season's hit comedy SEMINAR by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Peabody Award winner Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Omnium Gatherum, "NYBD Blue," NBC's new hit series "Smash"). Directed by Obie Award winner Sam Gold (Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens, Kin, the current Look Back in Anger), SEMINAR plays at The Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street).

In SEMINAR, four aspiring young novelists (Lily Rabe, Hamish Linklater, Jerry O'Connell and Hettienne Park) sign up for private writing classes with Leonard (Mr. Rickman), an international literary figure. Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored. The wordplay is not the only thing that turns vicious as innocence collides with experience in this provocative new comedy. Lily Rabe Leaves Cast of New Group's EARLY HISTORY OF FIRE

The New Group will present the world premiere of An Early History of Fire, a new play by Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe. Directed by Jo Bonney, this production features Deema Aitken, Gordon Clapp, Erin Darke, Jonny Orsini, Devin Ratray, Dennis Staroselsky, Theo Stockman and Claire van der Boom. Limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated April 5 - May 26 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Official Opening Night is set for Monday, April 23 at 7:00 PM. Lily Rabe, who was previously slated to star in the play will no longer be taking part in the production.

Off-Broadway's The New Group honored David Rabe and Nancy Manocherian with the Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater at its 2012 Gala, hosted by Janeane Garofalo & Morgan Spector, last night, February 27. The evening offered cocktails, dinner, entertainment and silent & live auctions, along with performances by Alan Cumming, Veanne Cox, Jay Rogers, Penny Fuller, Leslie Uggams and Jeremiah James. STAGE TUBE: On This Day 2/1- THE MERCHANT OF VENICE

Today in 1915, The Merchant of Venice opened at the 44th Street Theatre. A tragic comedy by William Shakespeare, the play believed to have been written between 1596 and 1598. The title character is the merchant Antonio, not the Jewish moneylender Shylock, who is the play's most prominent and most famous character. This is made explicit by the title page of the first quarto: The mo?t excellent Hi?torie of the Merchant of Venice. The play was recenlty brought to Broadway in 2010 after a successful run at Shakespeare in the Park with Al Pacino and Lily Rabe.

BroadwayWorld.com reported the news exclusively on January 9, 2012 and now the The Public Theater has officially announced the line-up for the 50th Anniversary Shakespeare in the Park season at the Delacorte. Daniel Sullivan, who directed acclaimed productions of All's Well That Ends Well, The Merchant of Venice and Twelfth Night in the Park, will return to direct AS YOU LIKE IT in June with Lily Rabe as Rosalind. The second show of the 50th Anniversary summer season will be Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. Based on the Olivier Award-winning Regent's Park Open Air Theatre London production in 2010, The Public Theater's INTO THE WOODS will be an all new production with an American cast and designers and will be staged in one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the world-the Delacorte Theater. INTO THE WOODS will begin performances at the end of July.

Acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck and cast members from her new hit Broadway comedy SEMINAR will participate in a special in-store event at The Drama Book Shop (250 West 40th Street) on Wednesday afternoon, December 14 starting at 5PM. Ms. Rebeck will be joined by cast members Tony Award nominee Lily Rabe, Obie Award winner Hamish Linklater, film and television star Jerry O'Connell and actress Hettienne Park for a Q&A panel about the play.
