Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) will present the New York premiere of THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY, a new play written by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by Edward Torres.

Second Stage Theatre is pleased to announce that the critically acclaimed production of Anna Deavere Smith's LET ME DOWN EASY, has extended four weeks, through December 6. Conceived, written, and performed by Ms. Smith and directed by Leonard Foglia, LET ME DOWN EASY opened on Wednesday, October 7 and was originally scheduled to run through November 8.

A matchless quintet of interlinked plays by Britain's best-loved comic playwright, illustrates the hilarious consequences of not listening to one another.  Ayckbourn's overlapping characters are alternately naturalistic and farcical - quirky, neurotic, self-important, and hysterical.  Whether the comedy concerns marital conflict, infidelity, motherhood, or manhood; is set on a park bench or at a village fete, the characters reveal a LOL timeless familiarity in their desperation to make contact with one another. Ayckbourn's American premiere of 'Confusions' will be staged by the Lost Studio from January 15 - March 7, 2010 in Los Angeles.

Second Stage Theatre will host a post-performance conversation between Anna Deavere Smith and Elizabeth Alexander following the Thursday, December 3 evening performance of Let Me Down Easy. A renowned poet, essayist and playwright, Elizabeth Alexander most recently composed and delivered the poem 'Praise Song for the Day' for the inauguration of President Barack Obama. The conversation is free to all in attendance at the Thursday, December 3 8:00pm performance.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, will conclude its star-studded Fall 2009 season with the first joint engagement of the club's founder MICHAEL FEINSTEIN and Emmy and Tony Award winning Broadway and TV star DAVID HYDE PIERCE from December 1 - 30

ZERO HOUR, Jim Brochu's award-winning play about the life of theatre legend Zero Mostel, will host 'Survivors of the Blacklist: A Panel Discussion' on Tuesday evening, November 24th at 7 p.m. at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street). This very special event is free to the public (reservations strongly suggested).

Due to popular demand, the critically acclaimed production of Anna Deavere Smith's LET ME DOWN EASY, now playing at Second Stage Theatre, has extended a second time and will now close on January 3, 2010. The show, which is currently extended through December 6, will not be performed December 14 - 20 due to Smith's previous commitment to perform Hymn with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at City Center.

On Monday, November 23, 2009 The Players Foundation will present a Benefit/Celebration to honor the life's work of Jerry Tallmer, the legendary, prolific NYC theater journalist and critic who was a founder of the Village Voice and creator of the OBIE Awards. Artists and admirers will gather to toast the man whose inquiring intellect and visionary writings started many careers.

The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that stage and screen star Oliver Platt is set to co-star opposite Laura Linney in the Bill Condon-helmed dark comedy series 'The C Word' for Showtime.
