James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's Follies, which was just nominated for eight Tony Awards, begins previews tonight, May 3 at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. Performances of the exclusive Los Angeles engagement of the Kennedy Center's critically acclaimed Broadway production of Follies will continue through June 9, 2012. Opening is set for May 9.

Center Theatre Group will soon present FOLLIES starring Victoria Clark (replacing Bernadette Peters), Jan Maxwell, Danny Burnstein, and Ron Raines. As first reported exclusively by BroadwayWorld.com last week, the Public Theater confirmed today that Tony Award-winner Donna Murphy has been cast as The Witch in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. Murphy last performed at the Delacorte in the Shakepeare in the Park production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood in 1985. INTO THE WOODS will begin previews on Monday, July 23 and continue for five weeks through Saturday, August 25 with an official press opening on Thursday, August 9.

Center Theatre Group has posted costume renderings from the upcoming production of FOLLIES on their Pinterest page. The production will star Victoria Clark (replacing Bernadette Peters), Jan Maxwell, Danny Burnstein, and Ron Raines.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced additional casting today for the 50th Anniversary season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. Robert Joy (Le Beau, Lord) and Oliver Platt (Touchstone) join the previously announced MacIntyre Dixon (Adam), David Furr (Orlando), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Celia), Omar Metwally (Oliver), Lily Rabe (Rosalind), and Stephen Spinella (Jaques) in Shakespeare's comedy AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Daniel Sullivan.

The West-End production of SWEENEY TODD, starring Michael Ball as Sweeney Todd and Imelda Staunton as Mrs. Lovett, opened to raves on March 20 at the Adelphi Theatre following its sell-out success at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Now, Baz Bamigboye of the UK Daily Mail has revealed that 'Stephen Sondheim has given director Jonathan Kent's Chichester Festival Theatre production of Sweeney Todd (with Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton delivering the stage performances of their lives) his seal of approval. He'd love the two stars to take the deliciously grisly musical to Broadway when they complete their run at the Adelphi Theatre. There's no official word this will happen yet, because both actors have crazy schedules, but it would be fantastic if they did manage to cross the Atlantic with this Sweeney.'

Oh yes! We've got a red carpet video for the opening night of SWEENEY TODD, which opened on the 20th on the West End. The video features interviews with stars Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton as well as Jason Manford, David Mitchell, Jim Broadbent and Tom Jones. Plus, there's a little peek of an onstage kiss.
