BWW Reviews: Crown Offers a Stellar COMPLEAT FEMALE STAGE BEAUTY
by Don Grigware
- Jun 5, 2012
The time: 1661. The place: London, England. It was illegal for women to perform onstage in any capacity. Women's roles were played by male actors, and there was no one more illustrious than Edward Kynaston (Ben Rovner), whose atypical livelihood came to an abrupt standstill. This is told via a splendid theatrical style of the period in Jeffrey Hatcher's superbly written Compleat Female Stage Beauty, currently receiving an outstanding production at Crown City Theatre.
BWW Reviews: Crown City Rocks with I'M JUST WILD ABOUT HARRY

Fun, fun, fun! Think the zaniness of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest and Brandon Thomas' Charlie's Aunt and then those crazy American stage musical parodies like Little Mary Sunshine and The Boy Friend, and you've nailed the nonstop comical antics of I'm Just Wild About Harry adapted by Gary Lamb and William A. Reilly at Crown City Theatre in NoHo. With slick direction from Joanne McGee and a super energetic cast, this musical is the perfect summer concoction.

Crown City Theater Co Presents Bill Barker's BEST WISHES
by Gabrielle Sierra
- Feb 17, 2009
Crown City Theatre Company is proud to announce the opening of 'Best Wishes,' a play by Bill Barker being done for the first time in Los Angeles since it's amazing run in 1984.
Bill Barker's heartfelt, comedic and personal play about a large family get-together in the rural town of Liberal, Kansas touches every audience member in a different way. There are so many strong characters that remind us of ourselves (or our siblings) that one can't help, but laugh along or get involved in their lives.
This is the story of one of the largest families in Kansas coming together to pay their last respects to their mother. They are also paying their respects to the house they all grew up in and for some of them the small town that they know they will never visit again.
