San Jose Rep Announces BLACK PEARL Cast

San Jose Repertory Theatre is proud to present the cast of the West Coast Premiere of the musical drama: Black Pearl Sings! Jannie Jones, in the title role, will belt out soul-stirring spirituals and African American folk songs, including 'Kum Ba Yah,' 'Little Sally Walker,' 'This Little Light of Mine,' and 'The Wabash Cannonball,' while Jessica Wortham plays Susanna Mullally, a song collector for the Library of Congress who travels the country seeking little-known melodies. Music unites the strangers in a powerful story that illuminates America's racial divisions and the attempts of the two women to bridge them. Performances begin September 2nd and continue until September 26th. Pay What You Will performance is on Thursday, September 2 at 8:00 p.m. Press Opening Night is on September 8 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the San Jose Rep Box Office at 101 Paseo de San Antonio or can be purchased online at www.SJRep.com or by calling 408.367.7255. Stew, Parisse, Ikeda and Others To Join SPF Festival

The Summer Play Festival announces casting for the eagerly anticipated Summer Play Festival (SPF) now celebrating its fifth season in New York. Casts include Annie Golden, former lead singer for 'The Shirts' who has appeared in the movie HAIR; Marin Hinkle from CBS' TWO AND A HALF MEN; Annie Parisse from NBC's LAW & ORDER; Jenny Ikeda from MTC's acclaimed production of TOP GIRLS; and Dan Lauria from the long running series THE WONDER YEARS. Singer, songwriter and Tony Award winning Stew from the musical PASSING STRANGE will also be writing new music for one of the plays.
