Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the World Premiere of A Minister's Wife, a new musical adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Candida, conceived and directed by Michael Halberstam with musical direction by Richard Casey. A Minister's Wife was adapted by Austin Pendleton with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen.

Drama of Works Celebrates 10th Anniversary with PUPPET KAFKA, Limited Engagement begins April 22 at HERE In celebration of its 10th Anniversary, Drama of Works will present the World Premiere of PUPPET KAFKA. Directed by Gretchen Van Lente, this new play by B. Walker Sampson is based on the life and work of Franz Kafka. Previews begin Wednesday, April 22nd at HERE Arts Center with opening slated for Sunday, April 26th.

Tsubasa Kamei Wins 1st Eve Adamson Lighting Design Award

Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, announces that Tsubasa Kamei from New York's Brooklyn College is the winner of the first annual Eve Adamson Excellence in Lighting Design Award. The award presentation will be at the final performance of the company's production of Jean Cocteau's Indiscretions (Les Parents Terribles), on Saturday, March 14 at 8:00 pm.

NAC Announces Kesselring Fellowship Recipients

The National Arts Club announced the recipients of its Kesselring Fellowship (formerly the Kesselring Award) supporting the work of extraordinary playwrights who have yet to achieve national recognition. An industry panel of writers, literary managers, actors, producers and directors and critics evaluated twenty-five finalists. In a rare move based on extraordinary merit, the 2009 panel and the National Arts Club choose to give out two lead awards rather than one. These two playwrights, Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghad Zoo, upcoming at the Mark Taper Forum) and David Adjmi (Stunning, upcoming at Lincoln Center 3) were awarded Kesselring Fellowships. Playwrights Jenny Schwartz and Tarrel Alvin McCraney were also named as Kesselring Honorees

Playwrights Horizons announces completion of a major renovation to 440 Studios, which is Lower Manhattan's largest rehearsal space complex (located at 440 Lafayette Street). The $1.2 million project took 8 months for demolition and renovation. 440 Studios is the third and fourth floors of the Playwrights Horizons Theater School. When not in use by the School for classes, workshops and productions, the rehearsal studios and theaters are rented out to hundreds of New York City cultural groups each year. The School and the studios are an integral part of Playwrights Horizons and perform a vital service for students, the theater community and the surrounding neighborhood. The renovation of the third floor was made possible, in large part, through generous capital funding from New York City and New York State.

The Living Theatre (19 Clinton St.), the oldest experimental theatre group still exisiting in the country, will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of THE CONNECTION by playwright Jack Gelber with a new production directed by Judith Malina. The Living Theatre will present the 50th anniversary revival in collaboration with New York City jazz musician Rene McLean, who will conduct a New York jazz ensemble. The Production will begin performances on December 30, 2008 and will open on Thursday, January 8, 2009. and will continue until Feburary 13, 2009. Judith Malina directs.
