Amanda Seyfried & Marin Ireland Join The New Group's Starry Reading of HURLYBURLY

The New Group has announced that Marin Ireland and Amanda Seyfried will join original cast members from the company's critically-acclaimed 2005 hit revival of Hurlyburly: Bobby Cannavale, Josh Hamilton, Ethan Hawke, Parker Posey and Wallace Shawn, in the previously announced one-night-only benefit reading of David Rabe's award-winning play. Directed by Scott Elliott, this benefit reading within The New Group's current 20th Anniversary Season takes place Sunday, April 26 at The New Group at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

2015 YoungArts New York Program to Kick Off Next Week

The National YoungArts Foundation's 2015 YoungArts New York program will take place from April 27 to May 3 and will offer life changing experiences to more than 100 aspiring artists -- all of whom are 2015 YoungArts Winners.

In a collaboration between the LA Phil and Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, "Available Light -- Creators in Conversation" reunites choreographer Lucinda Childs, composer John Adams, and architect Frank Gehry, in a post-performance discussion about the evolution of Available Light, the production that opened the Temporary Contemporary (Geffen/MOCA) 31 years ago. This conversation is open to ticket holders for the Available Light performance on Friday, June 5.

Signature Theatre has announced a one week extension for the world premiere of The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production begins performances tonight, April 21 and will now run through June 7 with a May 11 opening night in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

National YoungArts Foundation Now Accepting Applications for 2016

Today the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts), the non-profit organization that recognizes and nurtures the nation's most talented young artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts, announced that applications to become a 2016 YoungArts Winner will be accepted from April 21, 2015 through October 16, 2015. Young artists between the ages of 15 and 18 or in high school grades 10-12 (as of December 1, 2015) across the nation are encouraged to apply online at http://www.youngarts.org/apply.

The New Group has announced complete casting for the world premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. This production will feature Erin Darke, Annapurna Sriram and Michael Zegen, and as previously announced, Jesse Eisenberg and Kunal Nayyar.

For his largest exhibition in the U.S. to date, Philippe Parreno constructs a multi-sensory journey within the monumental interior of Park Avenue Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall-guiding and manipulating the audience's experience through the spectral presence of sound and light. H {N)Y P N(Y} OSIS transforms the traditional exhibition experience into a scripted series of rotating events, incorporating new and re-mastered films and objects with live performances by pianist Mikhail Rudy and recorded sound that respond to the Armory's expansive 55,000-square-foot space. Choreographed together, these works form an all encompassing and perpetually evolving artistic composition of operatic proportions.

During the program, Fisher reflects upon his collaborative approach to architecture, in conversation with special guest, Los Angeles Times architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne. A performance of Brahms' breathtaking String Quintet No. 2 in G major, Op. 111, showcases the close collaboration among LACO Concertmaster Margaret Batjer, who curates and hosts the series, LACO Principals Sarah Thornblade, violin, Roland Kato, viola, Victoria Miskolczy, viola, and Andrew Shulman, cello. Batjer is also featured in Kevin Puts' Arches for solo violin, and Thornblade and Kato join forces for Donald Crockett's To Be Sung on the Water. The series, which began in February with a guest appearance by Frank Gehry, continues in April with Hawthorne. Fisher has been described as a “maverick architect…with a broad aesthetic” (KCET). His innovative style, and his residential, museum galleries and other buildings reflect his keen interpretation of space, light and material.
