Production begins in Connecticut this week on an untitled contemporary comedy directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty) from an original screenplay by Dave Eggers and Vendela Vida. The film is being produced and co-financed by Big Beach, with Focus Features co-financing and distributing worldwide.

Academy Award winning film maker Ethan Coen (Fargo), who recently made his debut as a playwright with the world premiere of Almost An Evening at Atlantic Theater Company, received three 2008 Academy Awards last night for his acclaimed motion picture No Country for Old Men.

The 80th Annual Academy Awards were broadcast live from the Hollywood Kodak Theatre on February 24 on ABC-TV, hosted by Jon Stewart. Top winners included Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, Diablo Cody, Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Javier Bardem and Tilda Swinton.
