Ed Asner to Lead Staged Reading of Walter Bagot's ELEVATOR MUSIC at Skylight Theatre, 5/9

Ed Asner, winner of seven EMMY Awards with 20 nominations and five Golden Globes, will star in the staged reading of Walter Bagot's third play, Elevator Music, at the Skylight Theatre. An entertainment icon, Broadway performer, and Television Academy "Hall of Famer," Asner will be sharing the stage with theatre veteran Rob Nagle (recently Rogue Machine's Pocatello, Antaeus, Troubadour, Denver Center, and Arena Stage).

NYTW's 2016-17 Season Will Include Daniel Craig & David Oyelowo-Led OTHELLO & More!

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) (Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director Jeremy Blocker) has just announced its complete 2016/17 Season. The season will kick-off in Fall 2016 with NAT TURNER IN JERUSALEM by NYTW 2050 Fellow Nathan Alan Davis(Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea), directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian (The Convert). It is followed by the previously announced production of William Shakespeare's OTHELLO, directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home) and featuring David Oyelowo (Royal Shakespeare Company's The Histories, Selma) in the title role and Daniel Craig (Betrayal, Spectre) as 'Iago', in Winter 2016. Spring 2017 will bring THE OBJECT LESSON, by Geoff Sobelle (all wear bowlers), directed by NYTW Usual Suspect David Neumann (Restless Eye), with scenic installation by Steven Dufala. The season will conclude with NYTW Usual Suspect Mfoniso Udofia's SOJOURNERS and HER PORTMANTEAU, presented in repertory, directed by NYTW Usual Suspect and former 2050 Fellow Ed Sylvanus Iskandar (The Mysteries). Performance schedules, casting and full creative teams will be announced at a later date.

Second Thought Theatre's THE GREAT GOD PAN Begins Today

Second Thought Theatre follows acclaimed production of Martyr with THE GREAT GOD PAN as the second show of its 2016 season, beginning today. Carson McCain makes her STT directorial debut with this play by Amy Herzog, opening tonight, and running through May 14. A production commissioned by the Finborough Theatre to commemorate the centenary of Dublin's Easter Rising of 1916, Margaretta D'Arcy and John Arden's epic retelling of the life story of Easter Rising leader James Connolly, The Non-Stop Connolly Show runs at the Finborough Theatre, playing Sunday and Monday evenings from Monday, 4 April 2016 (Press Night: Monday, 4 April 2016 at 7.00pm), culminating in two all-day 'come and go as you please' performances of the entire play cycle on the anniversary of the Easter Rising itself - Saturday, 23 April and Sunday, 24 April.

As part of its 2015-2016 Producing Season, HERE proudly presents Science Fair, a HERE Resident Artist production conceived and performed by Hai-Ting Chinn. This new opera-theater work, a live science show with lessons & lectures in song, Science Fair features Music Direction by Erika Switzer (piano), and Music by Matthew Schickele, Renee Favand-See, Stefan Weisman and Conrad Cummings. Lisa Rothe directs. This world premiere will have 8 performances only, April 13 - 24, at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street). Developed through the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP), Science Fair marks the culmination of a residency for Hai-Ting Chinn with HARP.

St. Ann's to Stage Immersive BIANCO Under Brooklyn Bridge

To top off the Inaugural Season in its new Brooklyn waterfront home, St. Ann's Warehouse has invited NoFit State Circus, the UK's leading large-scale contemporary circus, to construct its 42'-high, 10,000 square-foot big top under the Brooklyn Bridge. Inside, the Wales-based international company will immerse audiences of all ages in Bianco,a gorgeous spectacle directed by Firenza Guidi. As a live rock band plays and audiences are shepherded through the space, promenade-style, the company of 35 performers and technicians creates awe-inspiring images of prowess and daring. 'This is circus as an event, aiming for grand physical/visual poetry, while at the same time exuding a huge, restless party vibe,' wrote London's The Times in a review of Bianco at the Edinburgh Festival. Continuing its commitment to introducing New York to great international artists, St. Ann's presents the work's American premiere-NoFit State Circus's North American debut-May 3-29.

The Kennedy Center Sets Additional IRELAND 100 Programming

From May 17-June 5, the Kennedy Center presents IRELAND 100: Celebrating a Century of Irish Arts and Culture, an international festival spanning three weeks and featuring more than 50 performances with the participation of more than 500 artists in venues across the Center. The comprehensive schedule of events highlights Ireland's rich cultural legacy and its major footprint in the fields of theater, literature, music, and dance. Taking place in the living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, the nation's most well-known Irish-American President and the first sitting President to visit Ireland, the festival is also part of a yearlong celebration at the Center marking the centennial of JFK's birth. Furthermore, IRELAND 100 is the centerpiece in the United States of the global commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising, a historic event that led to Ireland's independence.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced an extension for RED SPEEDO, the third production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2015/16 Season. RED SPEEDO began previews on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 and officially opened on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003), and will now run through Sunday, April 3, 2016.
