Oscar Season is in full swing; the big, end-of-year releases are hitting theaters and nominations voting began Monday. From now until the awards ceremony on February 24, the film world is abuzz with Oscar predictions. The Music Box Theatre takes this opportunity to take a look at some past award winners and see how this year's crop stacks up! Oscar-Winning Filmsmatinee series features a roster of movies that have racked up at least three Academy Awards apiece. Hollywood's celebrated jewelry designer Neil Lane added sparkle to ABC's The Bachelorette: Ashley and J.P.'s Wedding, as Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum commemorated their union with Neil Lane wedding bands. Ashley's ring featured a handmade, platinum band with French-cut diamonds in the middle section bordered by round diamonds on the side, while J.P.'s stylish wide platinum band included a raised elliptical edge in the middle. African-American Shakespeare Company Artistic Director L. Peter Callender (A Raisin in the Sun, Twelfth Night) helms this scintillating interpretation of Williams's timeless play. Today in 2009, A Little Night Music opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it ran for 425 performances. A Little Night Music is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler. Inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, it involves the romantic lives of several couples. Since its original 1973 Broadway production, the musical has enjoyed professional productions in the West End, by opera companies, in a 2009 Broadway revival, and elsewhere, and it is a popular choice for regional groups. It was adapted for film in 1977, with Harold Prince directing and Elizabeth Taylor, Len Cariou, Lesley-Anne Down and Diana Rigg starring.

San Francisco's African-American Shakespeare Company has announced the lineup for its 18th season. The season marks African-American Shakespeare Company's third season under the artistic leadership of acclaimed actor and director L. Peter Callender. The season opens in December with an enchanting holiday production of CINDERELLA; this new take on the timeless fairytale has become a seasonal favorite for families and children of all ages. The season continues in March with William Shakespeare's quintessential comedy MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR. Closing the season in April is Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF. Productions will be staged at the Buriel Clay Theater at the African American Art & Culture Complex in San Francisco. Subscriptions for the 2012-13 season go on sale May 12.
2013 Sundance Film Festival Announces Short Film Program

Sundance Institute announced today the program of short films selected to screen at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. The 2013 Short Film program is comprised of 65 short films selected from a record 8,102 submissions (427 more than for the 2012 Festival).

ETonline reports that troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has been arrested in New York City early this morning, Thursday, November 29. The arrest came after a 'physical altercation' with another female at a club in New York.
