Some timeless Irving Berlin classics will soon be heard echoing through the Fabulous Fox Theatre when White Christmas, the latest production from Theater of the Stars, opens November 2 - 7. Leading the cast of this heartwarming family classic, in the role of Bob Wallace, is veteran actor John Scherer. We caught up with John during rehearsals for the show (the production opens its holiday tour in Atlanta) to talk about his career, playing an iconic role, and the magic of this holiday classic.

Yank!'s Broadway Run Postponed to Fall '11

According to the New York Times, Yank! wil not make it to Broadway until fall 2011. A spokesperson for Yank! said that the creators are having no trouble raising the $5 million needed for the production, but wanted to take more time to perfect the show's book.

Broadway's Hugh Panaro (The Phantom of the Opera, Lestat) and Denis Lambert (Yank!, Broadway's A Chorus Line) will appear with soprano Dorothy Stone in a gala concert of opera and musical theatre at Etcetera Etcetera on Saturday June 26th. Proceeds will go to VoceDoro, an organization dedicated to the study of music and the advancement of vocal training. Tickets are currently on sale at Smarttix.com or Vocedoro.com

Yank! Broadway-Bound in 2010-11 Season

The New York Times is reporting that the Off-Broadway hit Yank! is now Broadway-bound for the 2010-2011 theatre season. No details on the theatre, schedule or if the cast would remain in tact were announced for the move, which is said to be budgeted at $5 million dollars.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) today announced that their hit production of David Zellnik and Joseph Zellnik's musical, Yank! A World War II Love Story, will be extended for an additional two weeks, due to the high demand for tickets. Performances began at the York Theatre at Saint Peter's (54th and Lexington Ave., NYC) on February 16 and will now continue through April 4, 2010. (The production opened February 24).
