The Alliance National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists. BIKE AMERICA, the ninth competition winner, will premiere on the Hertz Stage February 1 - 24, 2013. Opening night is February 6, 2013. BIKE AMERICA is written by Mike Lew from the Juilliard Drama Division and will be directed by Mortiz von Stuelpnagel.

Bring It On: The Musical will play the final performance of its limited engagement today, December 30, 2012, after 21 previews and 173 regular performances at Broadway's St. James Theatre. Dallas Theater Center will conclude its four-year Shakespeare cycle with one of the playwright's greatest tragedies King Lear, a co-production with Trinity Repertory Company and directed by DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty. King Lear opens for previews on Friday, January 18 and runs through Sunday, February 18.

Academy Award winner CUBA GOODING, JR, (Jerry Maguire, Red Tails), Emmy Award nominee and recording star VANESSA WILLIAMS (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives), and Tony Award nominee CONDOLA RASHAD (Lifetime's Steel Magnolias, Broadway's Stick Fly) will star along with the previously announced CICELY TYSON in the upcoming Broadway revival of HORTON FOOTE'S beloved classic, THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, directed by MICHAEL WILSON. Produced by NELLE NUGENT and KENNETH TEATON, this 14-week limited engagement will begin previews on Easter Sunday, March 31st at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St). The Wells Fargo ArtsVibe Teen Program - a new initiative to engage metropolitan Atlanta teenagers as active participants in the arts - has announced the inaugural ArtsVibe Teen Council. Forty-nine teens throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area were selected to participate, and the students will work closely with arts administrators from the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, High Museum of Art, and Young Audiences to help program and promote ArtsVibe events to their fellow peers in the Atlanta community.

New Repertory Theatre announces Becky Mode's wry comedy, FULLY COMMITTED, tonight, December 19 through 30, 2012, performing in the Black Box Theater, Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA.

The actor/playwright talks about his work on 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'

Following its acclaimed 16-week run at the Lookingglass Theatre Company this fall, Metamorphoses brings the mythical tales of Ovid to life at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, 10 years after the Broadway premiere. Written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman, Metamorphoses is based on David Slavitt's translation and marks the first time Zimmerman will direct the production since its Broadway run. This is also the first time Zimmerman will stage Metamorphoses in the round, and a custom set will be designed with the largest pool of water ever created for this production. Metamorphoses dives onto the Fichandler Stage February 8-March 17, 2013.

One family faces the music as Geva Theatre Center's 40th Anniversary Season continues with Next to Normal with music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and directed by Scott Schwartz. This landmark musical begins performances on January 8 and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Mainstage through February 10.

The B Street Theatre presents the West Coast Premiere of Carapace, by David Mitchell Robinson for its B3 Series. Veteran B Street company member David Pierini plays Jeff, a recovering alcoholic wanting to reconnect with his estranged adult daughter Margo after three years of silence. But Jeff's seemingly simple plan-to heal old wounds by bringing Margo a turtle on her birthday-proves more difficult and demanding than he ever imagined.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation held its second annual Champagne & Caroling Gala last night at Celsius, a restaurant, bar and event space within Citi Pond at Bryant Park (5th Ave and 42nd Street) on Monday, December 10. At this one of a kind urban winter wonderland in of the heart of midtown Manhattan, Broadway's brightest stars and patrons of the arts joined together for a festive celebration of the country's premier musical theatre training program.
