The Next Stage Theatre Festival returns this January with a lineup of ten companies showcasing a cross-section of our exciting indie performance community. With many familiar faces from past Fringe Festivals, the 2018 programming is a true representation of the 'best of the fest'. The festival will take over Factory Theatre from January 3 to 14, 2018.

Due to popular demand, the Segal Centre is thrilled to announce that three performances have been added to the world premiere production of Prom Queen: The Musical. Produced by Mary Young Leckie and the Segal Centre, Prom Queen: The Musical tells the inspiring, true story of Marc Hall, the Ontario teenager who took his Catholic School Board to court when they refused to let him attend prom with his boyfriend. This new, award-winning Canadian musical directed by Marcia Kash, written by Kent Staines, with lyrics by Akiva Romer-Segal and music by Colleen Dauncey will now run on the Segal Stage until November 23, 2016.

Sheridan College's Canadian Music Theatre Project (CMTP), under the leadership of Michael Rubinoff, Associate Dean of Visual and Performing Arts, is an international centre of excellence for the development of new musicals in Canada. Since its inception in 2011, 15 shows have been incubated, with four having enjoyed their professional premieres (Come From Away, The Theory of Relativity, Prom Queen and Marathon of Hope) and one opening on Broadway in 2017 (Come From Away).
