Although staying in the country, even more so staging a comeback to acting, wasn't in her original plans, Antoinette Taus found herself auditioning for GREASE; she now plays the feisty role of Betty Rizzo in 9 Works Theatrical's restaging of the smash Broadway musical, which runs at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, until December 7.

"I Do Bidoo Bidoo," a Filipino-made movie musical, which explores four interwoven love stories inspired by 17 songs popularized by the APO Hiking Society, a trio made up of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) luminaries Jim Paredes, Boboy Garovillo, and Danny Javier, opens today at IndieHouse Royal Cinema Producers' Club Theatres (358 W 44th St.) in Manhattan, New York City and at Gaslamp Stadium Cinemas (705 5th Ave.) in San Diego, California.

60 out of 420 auditionees got callbacks on the first day of the much-talked-about "Miss Saigon" auditions, spearheaded by British stage director Laurence Connor ("Miss Saigon," "Les Miserables") and Cameron Mackintosh's representative in the Philippines, Dong Alegre ("Miss Saigon"), held at the Philippine Opera Company's headquarters in Makati City early today. Experienced thespians Karylle Tatlonghari, Tippy dos Santos, Jake Macapagal, Julia Abueva, Lorenz Martinez, OJ Mariano, Noel Rayos, Cathy Azanza, Kyla Rivera, Cara Barredo, Topper Fabregas, and Jay Pangilinan were among the 60 who made the short list.

Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos, young thespians and mainstream entertainment stars, are relative newbies compared to their more experienced co-stars in the new movie musical I DO BIDOO BIDOO. However, Sam and Tippy's previous musical theater experience, extremely high level of professionalism, and unquestionable talent enable them to hold their own against the pressure from playing the lead roles in the film, which features the immortal songs of the APO Hiking Society, and now plays in cineplexes across the Philippines.

Among the most memorable musical films that have featured international music icons's discography, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE(2007), which showcases the popular songs of The Beatles, and MAMMA MIA!(2008), which features the hit songs of ABBA, were instant favorites. On the local front, the Philippines has I DO BIDOO BIDOO: HETO nAPO SILA, which headlines the immortal songs of the legendary trio of the APO Hiking Society, comprised of Jim Paredes, Boboy Garovillo, and Danny Javier.
