Mile Square Theatre Presents The 8th Annual One-Minute Play Festival


The New Jersey One-Minute Play Festival (#1MPF) returns for The 8th Annual New Jersey One-Minute Play Festival! 1MPF is the country's largest and longest continually running community-engaged theatre project, aimed at exploring local topics, ideas, trends, and seeding conversations for, by, and about artists and citizens of NJ. The marathon evening of one-minute plays by some of New Jersey's established and emerging playwrights and directors will have three performances: Saturday, June 30th at 8pm, Sunday, July 1st at 3pm and 7pm. All Performances at Mile Square Theatre (1400 Clinton St, Hoboken, NJ 07030)

BWW Review: Mostly Mozart's DON GIOVANNI Goes Back in Time


Though the title role in Mozart's DON GIOVANNI goes to the fabled lady killer--and Mostly Mozart's production was lucky to have a first-rate Don in baritone Christopher Maltman--the opera is a real ensemble piece, with every one of a half dozen characters key to a successful performance. In the Budapest Festival Orchestra's lively performance at Mostly Mozart under conductor and director Ivan Fischer, there was an extra element: an ensemble that tripled as chorus, dancers and, yes, scenery.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival concludes its 51st season with a revival of the acclaimed Budapest Festival Orchestra production of Don Giovanni, directed and conducted by Ivan Fischer, with a cast led by baritone Christopher Maltman; Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree leading two Festival Orchestra programs featuring pianist Kirill Gerstein in his Mostly Mozart debut and violinist Gil Shaham; a special appearance by Langree on piano in a pre-concert recital with Susanna Phillips; and Mostly Mozart artists-in-residence International Contemporary Ensemble performing a nature-inspired program by three pioneering female composers and featuring Wu Wei in his festival debut.

MasterVoices to Perform at Verbier Festival, 7/23-25


MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale) will make its eighth appearance at the Verbier Festival on July 23 and 25, 2016 in concerts conducted by Charles Dutoit and Gabor Takacs-Nagy. MasterVoices cherishes a rich collaboration with the Verbier Festival since its first appearance there under James Levine in 2005, and is pleased to return and celebrate their shared vision for artistic excellence and inter-generational exchange through music.

Sylvia Schwartz (Sopran) und Adam Plachetka (Bassbariton), beide 2010/2011 neu im Staatsopernensemble, präsentieren ein persönliches Programm an Arien, Duetten und Liedern von Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Antonín Dvo?ák, Manuel de Falla, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Bed?ich Smetana und Gaetano Donizetti. Am Klavier werden sie begleitet von der musikalischen Studienleiterin Kathleen Kelly. Karten à € 12,- sind an den Kassen erhältlich.

Gilfry Takes Hiatus from SOUTH PACIFIC to Play Captain Von Trapp in Theatre du Chatelet's THE SOUND OF MUSIC


Rod Gilfry will take a brief hiatus from his role as Emile de Becque in the national tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific, and will whisk away to Paris where he will star in will Emilio Sagi's production of The Sound of Music at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris from Dec. 6, 2009 through Jan. 3, 2010. Gilfry will play Captain Von Trapp opposite a rotating trio of actresses, including Sylvia Schwartz, Julie Fuchs and Christine Arand, who will play Maria.
