The highly anticipated West End transfer of CLOSE TO YOU: BACHARACH REIMAGINED, the new musical featuring Burt Bacharach's songbook, opened last night 15 October at the Criterion Theatre, London. After the performance, Burt Bacharach joined the cast in Piccadilly Circus for a very special performance of 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head,' followed by a party at the Haymarket Hotel. The White House Correspondents' Association? just held its Centennial dinner on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Founded in 1914 to represent the White House press corps, the association marks its centennial this year. It works to maintain independent news media coverage of the president, advocating for access, handling logistics for pools of reporters who stay close to the president and those who travel with him, and providing scholarships to journalism students. On yesterday's THE VIEW on ABC, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan spoke about their new Broadway plays, No Man's Land and Waiting For Godot. Stewart also chatted about his September marriage to Sunny Ozell with his good friend McKellen as the officiant!

On September 7th, Patrick Stewart and Sunny Ozell made their marriage official at a ceremony officiated by Sir Ian McKellen. The small ceremony took place at Lake Tahoe, with only a hundred people attending. The couple told the press by taking a picture of themselves neck-deep in a ball pit with the caption 'Yes, Married', while Ian McKellen took a picture of himself with a shirt that said 'Minister', the couple's wedding certificate, and the caption 'I did my part'. This is the third wedding for Stewart, after meeting Ozell four years ago in 2009.

The American Theatre Wing (William Ivey Long, Chair; Heather Hitchens, Executive Director) announced today that its annual gala, held last night at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising nearly $700,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2012, by approximately $100,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Group, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running television show 'Working in the Theatre.'
