MTH’s new virtual Musical Monday “Broadway’s Prince” is a delightful decompression from the all-consuming political drama that engulfs the country. “Broadway’s Prince” is a remembrance of the late, great, Broadway producer and Director Hal Prince. This production is a compendium of sixteen musical numbers from a selection of Prince’s shows sung by some really excellent, locally-based performers.

What They Did For Love: The Songs of Marvin Hamlisch and Burt Bacharach continues at the Quality Hill Playhouse, 303 W. 10th, through May 17. J. Kent Barnhart, Producing Artistic Director of the Playhouse, accompanies Melinda MacDonald, Tim Noland, and LeShea Wright, on piano and vocally. Barnhart emcees the production displaying his wit and sense of humor as he reveals often little known history about the songs and their creators.
A season dedicated to the film music of the 1960s and 1970s cinema continues at the Quality Hill Playhouse at 303 W. 10 on April 17. The tunes of Marvin Hamlisch and Burt Bacharach come alive in What They Did for Love: The Music of Marvin Hamlisch and Burt Bacharach. The intimate cabaret revue runs through May 17.
Rhapsody in Gershwin currently plays at the Quality Hill Playhouse in Kansas City, Mo. The musical tribute to George and Ira Gershwin runs through July 6. The Gershwin brothers wrote songs for Broadway, jazz clubs, films, and concert halls in the 1920s and 1930s. The production is part of the Quality Hill Do It Again, The Best of Quality Hill Playhouse series.

A Little Night Music, produced by Spinning Tree Theatre, is now playing at the Off Center Theatre in Crown Center. Michael Grayman directs an immensely talented cast for the play with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. The musical opened on Broadway in 1973 based on a film by Ingmar Bergman. Andy Parkhurst designed the choreography, which early in Act I is impressive as the performers entangle themselves on stage. This production marks the largest cast utilized by Spinning Tree Theatre.
A Little Night Music by Stephen Sondheim marks the largest cast to appear for the Spinning Tree Theatre in Kansas City. The production on the Off Center Theatre stage in Crown Center will feature 13 actors and 7 musicians. The Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night inspired the Sondheim musical.
All Sinatra a tribute to Frank Sinatra originally was set to close on February 23, but due to overwhelming popularity and the demand for tickets, the Quality Hill Playhouse in Kansas City has extended the run to March 9. Sellout crowds filled the playhouse two out of the three performances for the productions opening weekend and since Opening Night on January 24 has been a sell out over a dozen times.
NOEL AND GERTIE ran at Quality Hill Playhouse from September 23-October 23 and starred Robert Gibby Brand as Noel Coward and Melinda MacDonald as Gertrude Lawrence. The show was well received by critics and audiences alike.

Nikolai Gogol's The Government Inspector will be the third presentation of the Inaugural Series of EARTh (Equity Actors' Readers' Theatre). Featuring some of the finest professional actors in the Greater Kansas City area, this concert-style stage reading will be presented on Monday, February 21, at 7:30PM in the Music & Art Building on the campus of St. Teresa's Academy/KCYA.
