Auditions:
Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 2-5 pm
Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 5-8 pm

The Threepenny Opera requires a large ensemble cast. For the vocal auditions, please prepare a mid-20th-century ballad-type Broadway-style show tune from memory in English. The ballad can be up-tempo or slow; serious or comic. Bring sheet music; an accompanist is provided. PLEASE SING NOTHING FROM THREEPENNY. For the dramatic audition, actors will be given sides from the show to prepare with other auditioning actors; be prepared to stay for this. There are some non-singing parts

All roles are open.

Major Roles:
Low-Dive Jenny, a whore -- medium female voice. Age about 35. 2 solo songs, 2 duets, 2 finales.
Mr. Peachum, chief of the beggars guild -- bass-baritone. Age about 55. 2 solo songs, 1 duet, 2 finales.
Mrs. Peachum, his wife -- contralto. Age about 50. 1 solo song, 1 duet, 2 finales.
Polly Peachum, their daughter -- soprano. Age: Early 20s. 2 solo songs, 3 duets, 2 finales.
Lucy Brown, daughter of Tiger Brown -- high soprano (trained voice needed). Age about 18. 1 solo aria, 1 duet, 1 finale.
Streetsinger -- medium voice; may be male or female. 2 ballads; many scene openings.
Mack the Knife, a gangster -- high-ish baritone. Age about 35. 3 solo songs, 4 duets, 2 finales.
Tiger Brown, High Sheriff of London -- low-ish baritone. Age about 35. 1 duet, 1 finale and occasional ballad reprises.

Supporting Roles -- all have solo verses and ensemble singing. All ages and types:
Crook-fingered Jake - male gang member
Ready-money Matt - male gang member
Sawtooth Bob - male gang member
Wally the Weeper - male gang member
Betty - female whore
Doxy - female whore
Suky Tawdry - female whore
Vixen - female whore

Speaking Parts (some can be doubled with singing parts if necessary):
Filch -- male; pudgy 20-something.
Reverend Kimball -- a drunken clergyman
Constable Smith -- male; has stage combat
Male and Female Beggars

Some of the supporting roles also double as beggars and townspeople.
