City Theater Company (Wilmington, DE) is seeking versatile actors/singers/movers of color, 18+, for the rock musical Passing Strange with director Jeff Hunsicker and music director Joe Trainor. December production. Stipend paid. The role of Youth has been cast.

Specifically seeking:

Narrator: African American/Black male-identifying, reads age range of 40-60. Rock singer, preferred experience as a bandleader and/or proficiency with lead guitar or other instrument.

Mother: African American/Black female-identifying, reads age range 40-60. Strong actor-singer.

Actor 1: African American/Black male-identifying, reads age range 20-35. Strong character actor/singer/mover to play Franklin, the reverend’s closeted gay son and choir director; Mr. Venus, a West Berlin performance artist and activist; and others.

Actor 2: African American/Black male-identifying, reads age range 20-35. Strong character actor/singer/mover to play Terry, a bad kid at church who plays drums (albeit badly); Hugo, a West Berlin militant writer and activist; and others.

Actor 3: African American/Black female-identifying, reads age range 20-35. Strong character actor/singer/mover to play Marianna, a neo-hippie squatter living in Amsterdam; Sudabey, a West Berlin avant-garde filmmaker and activist; and others.

Actor 4: African American/Black female-identifying, reads age range 20-35. Strong character actor/singer/mover to play Renata, an abstract artist and café waitress living in Amsterdam; Desi, a West Berlin social engineer; and others.
