PORTLAND ACTORS CONSERVATORY - Portland Actors Conservatory

Portland Actors Conservatory will host local auditions for acceptance into its two year program March 2 from 9:00 – 2:00. All serious students of acting are encouraged to attend.

Faculty representatives meet with students in New York City, Chicago and San Francisco and now local actors can vie for one of the twenty spaces in the class of 2016.

“Portland is an arts mecca,” said Producing Artistic Director Beth Harper. “At The Conservatory students have the opportunity to hone their craft in an environment that embraces creativity and in a city that offers a variety of professional opportunities.”

Portland Actors Conservatory is nationally accredited by The National Association for Schools of Theatre and eligible students may qualify for federal financial aid. As one of only five stand alone actors conservatories in the nation the program appeals to committed students interested in an ensemble approach to the craft.

Classes are lead by working theatre professionals who can offer insight into current trends and techniques embraced by the theatre community. The first year of the program focuses on technique and method through classes such as: acting technique, voice, Shakespeare, clown, Meisner and technical theatre.

The second year of study put the theory of the first year into practice on stage. Students work alongside seasoned guest artists to present The Conservatory’s annual Season of Plays, while also developing advanced techniques through master workshops.

The Conservatory’s reputation of developing prepared and qualified actors extends beyond the academic communities and into the world of professional theatres.

Matthew Kern of Defunkt Theatre said, “Thank you to everyone at Portland Actors Conservatory for scouring the country and turning out such particularly professional and talented actors these past few years. Defunkt Theatre has benefited tremendously from your efforts.”

All individuals interested in auditioning should first call
