Today, Thursday 1 August, the producers of Riverdance, are pleased to announce that Heartbeat of Home will be holding open auditions to find the final singer to join the company of their extraordinary dance and music extravaganza, embracing flavours and cultures from around the world.

Experienced female lead vocalists with good movement skills are invited to audition at The Joint, Kings Cross, WC1X 9DG on Thursday 8th August, registration at 10am. Please bring headshot, CV and be prepare an acapella 16 bars of a modern, soulful song that shows off your range. Successful applicants will be recalled the following day.

The production will open in the West End this September 2019. Previews at the Piccadilly Theatre will begin on 4 September 2019 with opening night on 11 September 2019.

Heartbeat of Home is a spine-tingling, tantalizing, high octane, sexy, dance and music extravaganza. It is a heart–stopping tour de force that features the dynamic, vibrant components of traditional Irish, Latin, Hip-Hop, Afro-Cuban and Contemporary music and dance, uniting performers and audiences on journeys to find a home, wherever that may be.

Following sold out performances at the London Palladium earlier this year and having thrilled audiences in Dublin, North America, China and Germany, the show is heading to the Piccadilly Theatre for an extended West End run due to popular demand.

Heartbeat of Home showcases 33 world-class dancers and live musicians from Ireland, U.S.A, Australia, Britain, Canada, Italy, Argentina and Spain. Produced by Moya Doherty, conceived and directed by John McColganwith award-winning Irish composer, Brian Byrne (who has worked with Katy Perry and Barbara Streisand), concept development and lyrics by award-winning Irish writer Joseph O’Connor and choreography by David Bolger.

The Heartbeat of Home creative team also includes John Carey (Irish Dance Choreography), Alan Farquharson (Set Design), David Torpey/Image Now and David Mattias/COSMO (Set Projection Design), Peter Canning (Lighting Design), Ciarán Byrne (Sound Design), Monica Ennis and Niamh O’Connor (Costumes Styling) and Padraic Moyles(Associate Director).

McColgan says: “We are thrilled that Heartbeat of Home is heading to the West End this Autumn. This is a show that fuses together Irish dance with flamenco, tap dancing, tango, salsa and hip hop. We want audiences to come out of the show energized and uplifted by this multicultural dance and music spectacle. We can’t waitto be back in London!”

Moya Doherty (Producer)
Moya Doherty’s career encompasses the creative industries, theatre, radio and television production and presentation, both in Ireland and internationally.
She fronted a number of Arts, features and documentary programmes for RT?. As Executive Producer, Moya produced a number of Telethons, the Eurovision Song Contest and the televising of the opening of the Special Olympics held in Ireland in 2003. Moya developed the original concept for Riverdance and was the Commissioning Producer for the Eurovision Song Contest of 1994.
Moya has sat on a number of arts-related Boards including seven years as Chair of the Dublin International Theatre Festival, The Abbey Theatre, The Ark Children’s Theatre in Dublin, Business to Arts and Walnut Hill Arts School in Massachusetts.
Moya has received numerous awards and accolades over the years, including the Veuve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year, the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Honorary Doctorates from the University of Ulster, University College Dublin and from the national University of Ireland in recognition of her ongoing commitment to the world of the arts in Ireland.
Since 2014 she has been Chair of the RT? Public Service Media Board.

John McColgan (Concept/ Director)
John McColgan’s career as a multi award-winning producer and director began in the mid-seventies at RT? Television where he went on to become Head of Entertainment and he was also head of Weekend Entertainment at TVAM – ITV’s breakfast television service.
He played a key role in the evolution of Riverdance from the original seven-minute dance number and went on to direct the full stage-show spectacular. Among John’s many other directorial credits are a critically-acclaimed production of Dion Boucicault’s 19thcentury melodrama The Shaughraun for The Abbey Theatre and he produced a major theatrical event marking the State visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland in May 2011. John has received many awards during his career, including an honorary Doctorate of Law from the National University of Ireland in recognition of his services to the arts and entertainment industry.
John is also an accomplished photographer with a keen interest in human rights issues around the world. He is the first Ambassador for Trócaire, the Irish overseas development agency and he has produced the acclaimed photography exhibition and TV documentary ‘This is Palestine’. The recently launched ‘Looking at the Moon’ is a book of photographs taken on his recent trips to Palestine and Guatemala with Trócaire.
