DEATH OF A SALESMAN - Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts

ABOUT:

Opera House Theatre Company is seeking union and non-union submissions to cast select roles in Arthur Miller's 'Death of A Salesman' for our Spring production in coastal NC. Actors will star alongside local hires (and soon-to-be-announced Tony/Grammy nominee). Seeking union and non-union actor submissions. AEA ACTORS: Tier II Guest Artist Agreement. Extremely limited to no press obligations. NON-AEA ACTORS: Pays between $400-$600 weekly, plus travel and housing provided. All partial weeks shall be prorated. Extremely limited to no press obligations.

SEEKING:

Biff Loman | Male-presenting, Black, 34-years-old. Flawed older son of Willy and Linda Loman. He was a popular jock in high school, but as an adult has failed to live up to his potential. He struggles to find his true self and also understand the nature of the love for his father.

Happy Loman | Male-presenting, Black, 32-years-old. Happy has lived in Biff's shadow all of his life. He compensates by pretending to be overly-confident, but in reality doesn't know himself. He is popular, a womanizer and he dreams of corporate success and wealth.

Uncle Ben | Male-presenting, Black, early 50s to late 70s (flexible). Willy's successful older brother who became a diamond tycoon after a detour to Africa. He is dead but appears to Willy in his hallucinations. He represent's Willy's idea of the American Dream success story.

DATES & LOCATIONS:

Rehearsals and performances located at Lucille Shuffler Center in downtown Wilmington, NC.
Performances at Historic Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Wilmington, NC.
Rehearsals expected to begin Mon, February 5, 2024.
Performances begin February 22 and conclude on Sun, March 3, 2024 (4-week contract).

SUBMISSION INFORMATION:

Submissions due by Tuesday, December 19. Please slate with your name, height, union status and where you're currently based in the same video as you performing your chosen character's applicable material. Please include your headshot/resumé alongside your video submission in an email to
bradley.g.barefoot@gmail.com. Please make sure your video is visible to anyone with the link.

Actors local to Wilmington, NC can come to an in-person filmed audition at the Lucille Shuffler Center (2011 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC, 28401) on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM in Studio B with select members of the creative team.
