The Un-Common Theatre Company announces December Auditions for Disney's The Lion King JR
The Un-Common Theatre Company's Young Performers Production is excited to offer auditions for students in grades 1 through 6 for Disney's The Lion King JR on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 10 am to 1:30 pm. Directed by Ursuline Academy Senior Cara DiPietro, Choreographed by Westwood High School Junior Erin Fitzgerald and Music Directed by Professional Vocal Instructor Linda Barbieri, this show will feature a cast of 1st through 6th graders and will be performed at the Qualters Middle School in Mansfield, MA, March 10-12, 2017.
Hakuna Matata! The Lion King JR tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King JR. features classic songs from the 1994 film such as Hakuna Matata and the Academy Award-winning Can You Feel the Love Tonight as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.
Auditions will be held at the Mansfield YMCA in Mansfield, MA for students in grades 1 through 6 on Sunday, December 18th, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Callbacks will be held from 3 to 5 pm. To make an appointment, please email

For those who are new to the audition process or would liketo improve their auditioning skills, Un-Common is also offering an Introduction to Auditioning Workshop on Thursday, December 8th from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Qualters Middle School in Mansfield,MA. The workshop will be presented by Michael Hammond, Director and Choreographer of Un-Common's recent fall production of The Little Mermaid, and Linda Barbieri, Music Director of the upcoming Disney's The Lion King JR, with Lion King JR's Director Cara DiPietro and Choreographer Erin Fitzgerald presenting an overview of the upcoming Young Performers Production. A breakout session for parents will also be offered to introduce and review the process of the production from auditions to opening night.
