AUDITION NOTICE FOR WOLVERHAMPTON PERFORMANCES OF A TALE OF TWO CITIES.

The Touring Consortium Theatre Company is one of the country’s leading large-scale touring theatre companies, and has been touring high quality productions around the UK for twenty years. The next touring production will be a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’, A TALE OF TWO CITIES at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from Wednesday 19 – Saturday 22 October 2016.

This is a bold, new version of one of Britain’s best-loved novels and The Touring Consortium is looking to augment the professional acting company with twelve local actors, six men and six women, who will play the ensemble roles at each of the theatres on the tour.

There will be rehearsals ahead of the company arriving at the theatre, plus a full company rehearsal, and then performances through the week, including matinees and evenings. Auditions will be held at the theatre on Monday 18th July from 5pm for anyone interested in being part of the local ensemble and join the cast for this large-scale, ground-breaking production.

Applicants must be 18 or over and would preferably have some performance experience. The Touring Consortium would like to stress that all applicants should consider carefully the commitment they will be making. The work is voluntary.

All applicants must understand that there is quite a commitment that each successful candidate will be making. Below is a list of dates that the ensemble cast MUST be available for.

REHEARSALS There will be two evening rehearsals for the local ensemble on theThursday and Friday immediately prior to the performance week at your local theatre. It is possible that a Saturday morning rehearsal might be required. There will be a rehearsal onstage on the Monday evening, working on the production set, and a full company rehearsal on the Tuesday afternoon, again on stage, before the first performance on theTuesday evening. For The Grand Theatre Ensemble these rehearsal dates and times are:Thursday 13 October at 7pm, venue TBC Friday 14th October at 7pm, venue TBC Tuesday 18th October at 2pm, followed by an evening rehearsal between 7pm and 10pm

PERFORMANCES There are seven performances in the week. The Ensemble cast will be expected to have arrived at the theatre 45 minutes before the start of the each performance. For The Grand Theatre Ensemble the performance dates and times are: Wednesday 19th October at 2.30pm and 7.30pm Thursday 20th October at 7.30pm Friday 21st October at 7.30pm Saturday 22nd October at 2.30pm and 7.30pm (Please note: The first performance is on Wednesday afternoon.)

AUDITIONS Applicants will be asked to attend an audition on Monday 18th July from 5pm, held at the theatre by Associate Producer, Neale Birch.

Please note: It is likely that all of the ensemble women will be asked to wear corsets, and we would prefer that they have long hair. Their hair will need to be dressed appropriately for the performances.
