1st rehearsal: 3/24/2012 (evenings/weekends). Run 4/28/2012-5/20/2012 (Thurs– Sun, 16 performances). All auditions, rehearsals and performances take place at The Gallery Players, 199 14th Street, Brooklyn.

Equity audition procedures are NOT in effect. No Equity monitor provided. Producer runs all aspects of the audition. However, AEA will receive priority.

Prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo jazz, musical theatre or “Lounge Act” song. Sheet music should be provided in the correct key. No lead sheets please. Accompanist will be provided. Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Seeking 19 performers (M: 11; F: 8).

Robert Baker:

M (27-35) Baritone Dashing newspaper editor.

Eileen:

F (early 20s) Soprano. Younger sister of Ruth. Beautiful, optimistic, a little naïve. Sees the best in every one and every thing. Confident that there’s a happy ending in every situation.

Ruth:

F (mid to late 20s, early 30s) Alto. Older sister of Eileen. Strong headed woman determined to make her way in a Man’s world. Sharp sense of humor, but takes no bull from anyone.

Lonigan:

M (30s) Tenor Surly, but lovable Irish Cop.

Appopolous:

M (30s-40s) A dramatic Modern Artist turned Landlord. Flamboyant, in the artistic way.

Chick Clark:

M (20s) A slimy newspaper reporter.

Frank Lippencott:

M (20s) Socially awkward, puppy-dog-of-a Drug Store Manager.

Wreck:

M (20s-30s) Baritone Big Lug of an ex-football player likely in his 9th year of college.

Tour Guide:

M or F (Any age) “Circus Barker/MC/Narrator” of the world of Christopher Street

Special Ensemble:

5 Men and 5 Women who carry the show through dance and song and break-out character roles. Should be able to work in an ensemble unit, as well as create many specific and imaginative cameo roles. Seeking strong jazz dancers with a classic musical theatre style and partnering skills. Men should have some tap experience.

All roles open. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

Take the R to 9th St. or the F to 4th Ave. in Brooklyn. The “R” can be accessed at the Pacific/Atlantic station in Brooklyn which is served by the 2,3,4,5,N,B,D and Q trains from Manhattan
