Breakdown
Seeking strong, experienced musical theatre actor-singers-dancers for all roles. Also seeking understudies for all roles. Ethnic performers strongly encouraged to attend.
The season plays in repertory June through October. Actors being considered for the three amphitheater productions will be cast in all three. Tuacahn is an outdoor amphitheater located in southwestern Utah (110 miles from Las Vegas).
Disney’s “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”

BABETTE- A saucy, enchanted feather-duster, and the object of Lumiere's affections. She is the playful, gorgeous, seductive French maid.

BEAST- A Prince transformed into a terrifying beast for his lack of compassion. He is hot-tempered and commanding, but has a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior.

BELLE- A vibrant, intelligent girl with beauty, who wants more out of the life than an ordinary existence. She is optimistic, fun-loving, caring, and eager to experience life.

CHIP- An enchanted teacup and Mrs. Potts’ darling little boy. He is innocent, playful, and bright-eyed.

COGSWORTH- A tightly-wound, enchanted mantle clock and the head of the Beast’s household. He is uptight, strict, and punctual but also hard-working, faithful, and thorough.

GASTON- The egotistical, ultra-masculine villain determined to marry Belle. He is manipulative yet charming and earnest.

LEFOU- Gaston’s bumbling sidekick. He is loyal, energetic, and optimistic, but not quite the brightest guy.

LUMIERE- A suave, debonair enchanted candelabra. He is a loyal and steadfast servant.

MADAME DE LA GRANDE BOUCHE- A former opera diva-turned-enchanted wardrobe. She has a caring, refined, larger than life personality.

MAURICE- Belle’s loving, eccentric father. A child at heart and inventor in his own world.

MONSIEUR D'ARQUE- The scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum. He is a dark, sinister villain who aides Gaston in his plot to marry Belle.

CURTIS A - club owner, notorious gangster, and Deloris' boyfriend. Cocky and controlling, always on the verge of violence.

DELORIS VAN CARTIER- An aspiring performer, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in the convent, she initially refuses to embrace her new lifestyle but learns to embrace it when she works with the choir. Loud-mouthed, and sassy, but ultimately caring.

EDDIE SOUTHER- The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure, causing him to sweat profusely. He still yearns for Deloris after all these years, and dreams of being her hero.

ERNIE- One of Curtis's thugs. Initially thought to be a mindless yes-man, he turns out to be an undercover police informant.

MICHELLE- One of Deloris's back-up singers. Lippy and always quick with a retort.

MONSIGNOR O'HARA- One of the heads of the convent. Constantly concerned with financial matters, though soul music surprisingly puts him in a different mood.

MOTHER SUPERIOR- The head of the convent, sarcastic and a bit stiff. Extremely protective about keeping her sisters away from the outside world, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings.

PABLO- One of Curtis's thugs. A natural follower, constantly speaks in Spanish.

SISTER MARY LAZARUS- A nun of the convent and the head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of any of the nuns, but she gets caught up in Deloris's soul music.

SISTER MARY MARTIN-OF-TOURS- A nun of the convent. Clearly in her own world, but has her moments of surprising clarity.

SISTER MARY ROBERT- A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken, but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life.

SISTER MARY THERESA- A nun of the convent, the oldest of the group. Decrepit at a glance, but secretly packs a punch.

This show’s cast will come from the talent auditioning for the principal and ensemble roles of the other two productions as all three shows are done in rep.
Many different Disney characters will be represented in the show, including:
MULAN - Mulan shows tremendous strength, courage, passion and determination to protect her father and family. Strong vocalist with a very contemporary, “Disney Pop” sound and must move well. Chinese. Open to all Asian nationalities or anyone who can portray Asian.
SHANG - Has great strength, but also the openness to learn from Mulan. He is a general's son but has a brain too. Very physically fit and charismatic. Strong pop sound and must be able to move well. Chinese. Open to all Asian nationalities or anyone who can portray Asian.
POCAHONTAS - noble, free-spirited and highly spiritual young Native American woman. She expresses wisdom beyond her years and offers kindness and guidance to those around her. She loves adventure and nature. Beautiful and strong in body and mind. Strong vocalist with a contemporary musical theatre/pop sound and must move well.
SEBASTIAN - To play Caribbean male in his 20’s - 50’s. A crab. The court composer, world-class suck-up to King Triton, and a ‘side-stepper’ by nature. Ariel’s unwilling protector under the sea, and later, in the inhospitable world above. Speaks with a Caribbean accent. Good sense of comedy, good dancer and singer. Vocal range: Strong character calypso sound. Baritone to E.
