Breakdown

ANNE:
40s. Andre's patient and kind daughter. Worried for her father's well-being, she struggles to find the balance between caring for him and demands of her personal life. Sensitive, though she is not one to show that side of herself willingly.

PIERRE:
40s. Anne's partner. Genuinely cares about Anne, but increasingly resents her father's intrusion on their lives and the toll his sickness takes on her. Implacable, practical. Capable of cruelty and dishonesty.

LAURA:
30ish. A professional caretaker. Kind, upbeat, experienced. Appealing. Seems to have a way with Andre.

MAN:
40s. This actor plays a series of men whom Andre experiences as strangers because of his dementia, but who are/were known to him.

WOMAN:
40s. This actress plays a series of women whom Andre experiences as strangers because of his dementia, but who are/were known to him.

The following role has been CAST:

ANDRE:
[CAST - Frank Langella] Late 70s- Early 80s. Battling the onset of dementia, we see the world through his eyes. He is both ferocious and charming. Playful and infuriating. Increasingly broken as the play progresses.
