Breakdown

STRIKING 12 *All actors, along with playing multiple roles, must be strong musicians who accompany the music.

TheS.A.D. Light Seller/The Little Match Girl/Narrator 2. - Female, mid 20's to 30's. Alto, belts to D. Ability to play guitar or bass. Good mover. These roles range from pathos to delightful positive energy. The S.A.D. Light Seller goes door to door selling full spectrum holiday light bulbs that combat Seasonal Affective Disorder. She keeps up a cheerful and charming façade but may have experienced depression. The Little Match Girl, from the Hans Christian Anderson story, is a young, poor girl who tries to sell matches on a cold winter night and dreams of a happier life. Narrator 2 is helpful and very cool with her role. She has natural authority, emotionally mature and engaged, she keeps on track easily and elegantly.

Drummer/Happy Foley/Jack/Narrator 3, - Male, 20’s to 30’s. Baritone can belt to F# and Falsetto to A. Ability to play drums well. The Drummer is a classic musician, he feels slightly above proceedings, not in an arrogant way, just as a pit musician of a show might. Maintains relaxed humorous attitude toward proceedings. Happy Foley, just as his name suggests is the happy sound effects guy. He is excited to be
part of of the show, excited to get featured moment as answering machine, pretty much excited about everything. Jack is one of those people who is simply not terribly angst-ridden. He is enthusiastically throwing a New Year’s Eve party. Narrator 3 is more mischievous in terms of being into the show
sometimes making fun of the whole thing.

THE FOLLOWING ROLES HAVE BEEN CAST:
The Man Who's Had Enough/Narrator 1. - Male, mid 20's t0 30's. Good mover. Baritenor. Can belt to a G# and Falsetto to C. Extremely strong ability to play keyboard. The Man Who's Had Enough works an office job he doesn't particularly like and he has recently been left by his fiancee. He is not fundamentally nasty, he just is a bit shut down. Narrator 1 is the main on-stage representative of authority and is aware of his responsibility.

Erica/TV Announcer/Mrs Palomino//Grandmother, - Female, 20’s to 30’s. Soprano preferred. Ability to play violin, ability to play viper preferred. Good mover. Erick, a 20 something contemporary woman, Erica is excited about a party and anxious to get her stuck-in-the-mud friend to come out and party. Mrs. Palomino is a mother out with her son.
