BREAKDOWN

SOLOMON Male, Any Ethnicity, Age 16 (seeking actor 18+): An ambitious, honest, student working for the school newspaper, he is frustrated by the hypocrisy of the adult figures in his life and single-minded in his mission to expose this hypocrisy.

DIWATA Female, Any Ethnicity, Age: 17 (seeking actor 18+): A frumpy, slightly overweight and slightly off-kilter theater kid, she is fiercely determined to speak her mind, despite being ignored by the school’s establishment. Undeterred by her unpopularity, she understands that she will never be an ingenue.

HOWIE Male, Any Ethnicity, Age: 18 (seeking actor 18+): An openly gay transfer student, he is frustrated by the conservative ideals and puritan attitudes of Salem, Oregon.

TEACHER/REPORTER Female, Any Ethnicity, 40s: The voice of the various adult figures in the play. The adults in this world are not caricatures seen through the eyes of the teenagers but real people shaped by the puritan ideals and family values of the small town they were reared in. Seeking a versatile actor to play multiple roles.
