Seeking
Seeking excellent dancers. Strong ballet technique and tumbling skills a plus, must also be strong singers. Smaller roles will be cast out of the ensemble.

Preparation
Men should wear jazz shoes, women should wear heels. Please prepare a song (32 bars) in the style of the show. You MAY be asked to sing a second song, so please be prepared with an additional selection. Please bring headshot and resume.

Other
Please note: The roles of Oliver, the Artful Dodger, Bet and Charles Bates will come from the children’s call to be held at a later time. Children should NOT attend this call.

Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

Always bring your Equity Membership Card to auditions.

Breakdown

Fagin:
Charismatic leader of a children’s band of thieves, age range 45-60, singer/actor/ good mover. He is sly, cunning, likeable despite his despicable actions.

Nancy:
Vibrant, earthy barmaid/ prostitute. She was trained, in her youth, as a thief by Fagin. Age range 20-30, alto with a belt to a C, must be an excellent mover. She lives with and loves the abusive Bill Sykes. She longs for a better life and empathizes with Oliver.

Bill Sykes:
Stoic sociopath. He is a master thief who is feared for his murderous temper. Age range 25-40 actor/singer (baritone).

Mr. Bumble:
The Master of the Workhouse, age range 40-55, singer (high tenor). A large, pompous and corrupt bureaucrat.

Widow Corney:
The Mistress of the Workhouse, age range 40-55, singer (soprano- belt). Sharp-tongued widow, also corrupt. Later marries Mr. Bumble.

Mr. Sowerberry:
The undertaker, age range 40-55. An alcoholic, he is manipulated by his nagging wife..

Mrs. Sowerberry:
The undertaker’s wife, age range 40-55, actress/singer (mezzo). A savvy, penny-pinching nag.

Noah Claypole:
Undertaker’s apprentice, age range 18-25. Threatened by Oliver, he torments him.

Charlotte:
Sowerberry’s promiscuous daughter, age range 16-21, actress.

Mr. Brownlow:
Older gentleman, age range 50-60, actor/singer. Kind, upper class gentleman, Oliver’s grandfather.

Mrs. Bedwin
A housekeeper, age range 45-60. Works for Mr. Brownlow. Warm personality.

Doctor Grimwig:
Friend to Mr. Brownlow. Age range 40-50
