ALWAYS PATSY CLINE
Created and originally directed by Ted Swindley – based on a true story.

1st full company rehearsal: Monday, January 9th. Show run: January 20th – January 29th.
This show is cast. We are not seeking any actors at this time. Actors choosing to audition will be seen as replacements.
PATSY CLINE: (Role CAST). The legendary country singer, age 20 – 30 in appearance. Actress must sound just like Patsy Cline.
LOUISE SEGER: (Role CAST). A Texas housewife and fan of Patsy Cline, age 40 – 60 in appearance. Actress must have strong comedic presence with C&W vocal style.

JUDAS ISCARIOT:
Late 20s-Early 30s; Any ethnicity. High Tenor – One of the 12 Apostles who betrays Jesus.
MARY MAGDALENE:
Any ethnicity. Unique woman with strong pop /rock individualized voice (Low A Belt to an E).
PONTIUS PILATE:
Any ethnicity. Excellent actor, singer (Low b-High b).
CAIAPHAS:
Any ethnicity. Very strong Basso (Low D).
ANNAS:
Any ethnicity. Dynamic /Eccentric High Tenor.
HEROD:
Any ethnicity. Eccentric, comic, actor/singer, moves well (sings to a G).

Seeking to cast the following principals:
BELLE:
Age 18. Classically beautiful face, her eyes shine with intelligence. Unlike other beauties, Belle seems entirely unaware of her looks. Strong willed, adventurous and noble. She willingly gives up her freedom to save her Father’s life. A true heroine. She is not the kind of girl who judges books by their covers. Sensitive and smart enough to see through the Beast’s ugly exterior. Should move very well. Vocal range: Lyrical pop theatre voice to an E with very strong and clear belt.
BEAST:
Late 20’s – late 30’s. 5’10” or taller. This role requires an exceptional actor (classical training helpful) who is also a major singer. A tortured soul trapped in the body of a Beast. Angry, volatile and hopeless. When he meets Belle, she awakens his warm, loving human side and is able to overcome his bestial nature to break the spell. Should be handsome and well built. Vocal range: Baritone to an F.
MAURICE:
Mid 40’s – late 50’s. Belle’s father. An eccentric inventor. Comic, warm, sincere and immensely lovable. Devoted to his daughter. Short and stout is good. Not obese. Vocal range: Character voice to a D.
GASTON:
Mid 20’s – mid 30’s. No older. Must be 6’ or taller. Very handsome muscular build, sexy with a larger than life chiseled face. Actor must be a strong comedic farceur capable of playing a larger than life style. A rude, self-centered bully. Egomaniacal, narcissistic, will go to any lengths to get what he wants. Believes he is God’s gift to women. Should move very well. Vocal range: Big Broadway baritone with a solid F.
LE FOU:
Mid 20’s – mid 30’s. No taller than 5’8”. Gaston’s adoring hanger-on buddy. His entire being is centered around serving Gaston. A true fall guy. A buffoon in every sense of the word. A dim wit. Must be able to handle physical comedy and move well. Must be able to sing and do a strong character voice. Vocal range: to a G.
MRS. POTTS:
Early 40’s – early 50’s. A plump sweet-faced English teapot. A kind hearted maternal cook. She takes no guff from anyone. The mother figure of the castle household. Sings the title song. Vocal range: Lyrical alto down to low F sharp with a convincing English accent.
LUMIERE:
Early 30’s – early 40’s. A candelabra. Very charming, very suave, very French. Maitre D’ who fancies himself as a Lady’s man. Passionate, prone to dramatic displays of emotion. The Beast’s coach in the love department. Must have a credible French accent. Should move well. Vocal range: Baritone to a G.
COGSWORTH:
Mid 30’s – late 40’s. A manic, officious English Major Domo. Someone wound him up way too tight and he has never wound down. A slightly snooty Brit, with a heart of gold. He thinks that he is in charge of the household, but no one ever listens to him. English accent required. Vocal range: Character voice, not much singing.
BABETTE:
Early 20’s – early 30’s. A beautiful feather duster. Continually teases Lumiere. Must dance. Not too bright. Voluptuous, tall with a “show-girl” body. French accent required. Should move well. Vocal range: Broadway belt with a legit soprano.
WARDROBE:
Late 30’s – early 50’s. Warm, friendly, comedic, vain old girl. Very theatrical. Had pretensions to an operatic career. Should have an ample build, but not obese. Loud laugh, the life of the party – always talking about “the stage” and her lost glamour. Vocal range: Legit operatic mezzo to G or B Flat.

Seeking to cast the following principals:
ROSE:
40’s+. Strong Mezzo belt, Indomitable force of nature. She is domineering, aggressive, sexy, manipulative, charming, and unstoppable in her determination to have her daughters succeed on the stage.
LOUISE:
Early 20's. Mezzo to Eb. Rose’s older daughter. Shy, awkward, and loyal but eventually becomes the strong and willful world-famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee. Has to have great depth: Must be comfortable with striptease elements and suggestive, near-nudity.
DAINTY JUNE:
18+ to play 16. Belt to D. Rose’s younger daughter. Pretty & talented with a strong will. Must be strong actor, singer, dancer (including tap.)
HERBIE:
40’s+. Strong actor who sings (baritone). A candy salesman who is charmed into being Rose’s agent and becomes her love interest. Herbie appears at times as weak-willed but always has a strong core and will do the right thing.
TULSA:
Early 20s. High baritone. Fantastic song and dance man, trained in tap and ballet. “Boy next door” look with tons of charisma. Sings “All I Need is the Girl.”
TESSIE TURA:
30’s-40’s. Mezzo. A flighty, wisecracking stripper and Burlesque performer whose specialty is classical ballet. Ballet training a plus but not required.
MAZEPPA/MISS CRATCHITT:
30’s-40’s. Alto. A tough stripper and Burlesque performer whose specialty is playing trumpet. Ability to play trumpet a plus but not required. Actress must be comedic as well for Miss Cratchitt.
ELECTRA:
30+. Alto, big belt. An experienced stripper and Burlesque performer who uses light bulbs in her act.
WEBBER/PHIL:
30’s-50’s. Baritone. A strong character actor-singer to play a multitude of character parts.
