Seeking:

Martina
70s. Cuban American. From a bygone era, the matriarch of the family. She is living with one foot in the past, and we question how lucid she really is. A faded and fragile warmth, with an air of old world sophistication. She will do whatever it takes to keep up appearances, even at the expense of her family’s happiness.

Marcela
40s. Cuban American. Martina’s daughter. She is trying to find work and keep up with the house payment. Though worn down by being Martina’s caregiver, she is protective of her fading mother. Charming, playful, elegant. She is a private person, and her sense of morality is at odds with her desires.

Trini
20s. Cuban American. Marcela’s daughter. A bright young woman who is going to college for marine biology. Her kidneys are failing and she is in the hospital every month. Upfront, honest with a bit of an attitude. She talks a big game, but is sensitive underneath.

Father Monroe
late 40s-60s. A rising priest in the Catholic Church who has generously helped Marcela keep her family’s house. Progressive, good natured, attractive. Spirited and passionate, yet gentle. He is honest about what he wants. His love for Marcela conflicts with his obligations to the church.

Bishop Andres
60s. Devout and wise, a true man of God. However his devotion doesn’t stifle his jovial nature. Traditional, understanding, but concerned about the appearance of the church above all else.
