Equity actors who sing for IN TRANSIT, An A Cappella Musical.

The entire musical is a cappella. This is an ensemble piece. All must be exceptional musicians (MUST read music and be proficient sight-reader) and versatile comic actors.

Preparation
Bring sheet music; all will sing with accompanist first - not a cappella. Prepare a contemporary up-tempo pop song (requested: songs by Andrew Lippa, Tom Kitt, Jason Robert Brown, Ricky Ian Gordon, recent Alan Menken, Michael John LaChiusa, etc. that show the specific range needed)

Breakdown

NOTE: The entire musical is a cappella. This is an ensemble piece. All must be exceptional musicians (MUST read music and be proficient sight-reader) and versatile comic actors. All of the actors play multiple parts. Seeking a multicultural cast; a true “melting pot” of NYC; all ethnicities. Vocal ranges listed represent roughly 2 octaves. A cappella experience a plus.

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

WOMEN

MEZZO/JANE
(early to mid 30s): Vocal Range: F# to G, needs Eb belt for solo. Solos are in contemporary pop style. Instantly likeable girl next door with a sense of humor. Does not need to be an absolute beauty but must be an appealing, charming young character actress. Funny but vulnerable. Jane is the major role, plays other comic characters as well. Must be a great belter with a seamless upper mix.

ALTO
(mid 20’s – early 30’s): Vocal Range: F below middle C to E. Will play slutty administrator, stewardess, interviewer and several other roles. Should be sassy, have sex appeal and be a great comedienne.

MEN

CHRIS/BASS
(mid 30s to early 40s): Vocal range: Eb to E. Vocal percussion skill a plus; solos are in rock, soul and rap styles. Versatile comic actor able to play multiple parts/ages including Chris, a sports-loving, beer-drinking guy’s guy. Must have a big resonant bass sound.

DAVE/BASS
(mid 30s): Vocal range: Low D to Db. Low C. Vocal percussion a plus; solos are in rock, soul and rap styles. Versatile comic actor able to play multiple parts/ages including Dave who is Ali’s ex-boyfriend. Good looking, but self-centered. Must have a big resonant bass sound.
