BREAKDOWN
GEORGE (GEORGIA). 40’s-early 50’s. A loving mother of young children, she is searching for some kind of transcendence in life. She teaches Latin on the side to pay for her children’s education. She has a sense of irony and a boundless curiosity.
PAUL - 40’s-50’s. Married to George. An architect who is interested in ideas. Can be intellectually prickly and emotionally withheld at times; but also capable of passion and vulnerability. A loving father searching for some kind of transcendence in life.
JANE – 40’s-early 50’s. A capable and caring lawyer who has profound friendships and loves her daughter and her husband fiercely. She is smart and capable of irony, without a desire to process or examine the emotional valences in her life.
MICHAEL. 40’s-50’s. Married to Jane. A smart and sensitive soul (at times slightly uptight in the sensual realm), he used to be in a rock band but now makes jingles to support his family. He is capable of passion and extreme generosity.
PIP – Late 20’s. A beautiful woman; open and sensual, but more ordinary than you might think. In fact, it might be her ordinary relationship with her fearless sensuality which does not require deodorant or lipstick that makes everyone immediately think about sex. She is unvarnished and unashamed and unusual. She lives with her two male partners and slaughters all her own animals to eat. She can also dance and sing.
DAVID (pronounced Dah-veed), 30's, in a polyamorous relationship with Pip and Freddie. A mathematician, he is frank, unabashed, unashamed. He is not American and speaks with an accent. Masculine, sexy in an interesting way.
FREDDIE – Late 20’s-30’s. Attractive to both sexes, Freddie is tender and forthright. He is philosophical, and gentle, and wants to do no harm. Empathetic, sensitive, open, earnest.
JENNA – 16 yrs. old. Michael and Jane’s daughter. Fierce and young and tender. Capable of rage and affronted innocence. We want to like her though.
Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
