NINA ROSARIO
19, female. Freshman at Stanford, intelligent, driven. The first in her family to go to school. Classic ingénue with a fierce smart streak. Extremely strong singer, comfortable from low Bb up to D, with some higher mix/head singing and a popped belt F. Some dancing required.

KEVIN ROSARIO
40s, male. He has dedicated his life to his family and his daughter Nina's advancement. Loyal, protective, conservative and absolutely sure that as the patriarch he knows what’s best for his family. Baritone, C to E. Spanish speaking is a plus. ??

CAMILA ROSARIO
40s, female. Nina’s mother and the co-owner of Rosario’s, she is what holds the family together. Strong minded with steady values. Alto belter, low G to B (soft higher D in finale.) Spanish speaking is a plus.??

BENNY
early to mid 20s, male. Hardworking, ambitious, has worked his way up from nothing to a valued employee at Rosario’s Car Service. Rough around the edges, but with a heart of gold. Strong rapper. Strong dancer. Strong singer, E to Ab. ??

VANESSA

THIRD
Playwright: Wendy Wasserstein
Director: Michael Barakiva

1st rehearsal: 7/5
Opening: 7/22
Closing: 7/30

SEEKING:

LAURIE
early 50s, female. A brilliant, glass-ceiling-shatterer academic who is used to being the smartest person in a room full of smart people. Confident, aggressive, with a razor-sharp wit. This is a woman who is always on the go and never at a loss for words.

NANCY
early 50s, female, all ethnicities. Intelligent, damaged, a sharp sarcastic sense of humor (comedic timing imperative). A woman who has let her body go, suffered the consequences, and is now fighting for her life. Uses comedy to deflect. Transforms into a genuinely hopeful character by the end of the play.

WOODSON BULL, III
20, male. Athletic, masculine, preppy, handsome. A real bro with the effortless swagger of someone who’s always gotten what he’s wanted. Wrestler with the build to show it. The picture of white heterosexual privilege.

EMILY
early 20s, female, all ethnicities. Laurie’s daughter. Smart, ironic, quirky: the product of the small liberal arts New England town where she grew up. All of her mom’s smarts with none of the bite. THIS ROLE WILL BE NON-UNION.

JACK
early 70s, male. Laurie’s father. A great, kind man suffering from dementia. When he is lucid, we see the man he was and still is. When he drifts, his moods change quickly, from sentimental to violent. CAST - THIS ROLE IS CAST.

Male, 30s. All ethnicities. Professional beekeeper. Markedly off-beat. Grounded, honest to a fault, a guy who wouldn’t know how to be duplicitous if you paid him. Wears his heart on his sleeve.
