Preparation
Auditions are in 5-minute time slots.

Prepare two brief contrasting monologues. If singing, please prepare one monologue and one song that showcases your voice and your ability to command the Golden Age/Gershwin style; Accompanist provided.

Bring a picture & resume, stapled together.

Other Dates
Callbacks will be held at a later date.

Equity Members w/o appointments will be seen throughout each audition session as time permits. Housing provided for out-of-town performers.

Giulia: CAST. 40-something Italian American woman, pretty, personable, smart, funny.

Laura Warwick
Early 30s. Attractive. Confesses to murdering her husband, but part of a larger plot.

Michael Starkwedder
Mid 30s. Tough looking, seems to be an outdoorsman. Not a polished man, a shrewd thinker. Man of action.

Miss Bennett
50s. Warwick’s live-in housekeeper. Nosy, alert, tough ex-nurse

Jan Warwick
19-early 20s. Affectionate and sweet, but is a bit mentally disturbed. Can be dangerous and maniacal. Innocent looking, but sly. Afraid of being locked away.

Mrs. Warwick
60s-70s. Richard’s mother. Tall, proud, commanding. Walks with a cane, but still very alert & strong.

Henry Angell
40s-50s. Richard’s personal valet and manservant. Has a correct manner but a shifty eye.

Sergeant Cadwallader
30s. Welsh police officer. A poetical type

Inspector Thomas
Middle-aged. Has poker face with a dry sarcastic air.

Julian Farrar
Mid 30s. Warwick family friend. Has soldierly manner. Running for political office.

50s. Wiry & strong. Has lived a rough life; it shows on his face. An erstwhile fisherman/van driver/chauffeur.

Richard Harkin
Late 50s/60s. Sharky’s older brother. Recently gone blind.

Ivan Curry
Late 40s. Friend of the Harkin brothers. Big, burly

Nicky Giblin
Late 40s/50s. Friend of Richard’s. Thin and nervous disposition, though amiable.

Mr. Lockhart
50s. Acquaintance of Nicky’s. Suave, debonaire. Seems like a wealthy businessman, & he dresses very nicely.

30s-40s. Ralphie’s mother. Kind & sweet Midwestern mother of two. Has a sense of humor in raising her sons & dealing with her husband.

The Old Man
30s-40s. Ralphie’s father. Typical blue-collar Midwestern father. Loves an Oldsmobile, hates the neighbor’s dogs, in constant battle with the furnace, loves a contest. Excitable, full of energy. Also plays Santa Claus.

Miss Shields
40s-60s.Ralhpie’s teacher. Exactly the kind of “teacher” that a 9-year-old boy would remember from his childhood. Great role for a seasoned character actress

9-10-years-old. The center of the story. Must be able to carry the action of the play forward. Seeking a smart, young actor stage experience.

John
40s. Their son. A playwright living in New York City who is home for the weekend with big news.

Nina
40s. Their daughter. Attractive, witty, with a razor sharp sense of humor and a nervous stomach. A bit put-upon

Seeking six (6) versatile musical theatre actors/musicians who will make up an assorted company of men and women aged mid-20s to 50s. All must be accomplished singers, dancers, musicians, and actors. Auditioning performers should be prepared with an up-tempo and ballad from the Johnny Mercer canon. Seeking performers who will capture the vitality, energy, and glamour of the 1940s and 1950s. Looking for actors who play musical instruments – though not mandatory.

Juror Two
40s. Bank clerk. Meek, hesitant. A follower. Not quick to form strong opinions of his own.

Juror Three
Mid 40s-50s. Runs a company. Strong, forceful man. Overtly opinionated. Humorless & intolerant; not afraid of imposing his views on others

Juror Four
Mid 40s-50s. Stock broker. Vain man of wealth and position. Well-spoken; has an air of superiority about him.

Juror Five
Mid 20s. A mechanic. Young, blue collar worker. Naïve; easily intimidated. Takes his civic duty very seriously, but has trouble finding his voice in a room full of strong personalities.

Juror Six
30s. A housepainter. Honest, slow, methodical.

Juror Seven
40s-50s. A salesman. Loud, flashy, and outspoken. Feels he is too important to sit on this jury. A bully, a coward, and has a temper

Juror Eight
40s. An architect. A quiet, thoughtful, gentle man. A man of strong character and compassionate. Has a strong moral compass & will fight for justice to be done

Juror Nine
70s. Retired. Mild and gentle man who has lived a quiet, respectable life

Juror Ten
Mid 40s. A garage owner. Antagonistic, bigoted, bitter, angry, selfish. Not a pleasant man, and his frustrations with his station in life make him difficult and antagonistic. Has a cold.

Juror
Eleven: 40s-50s. Watchmaker. Refugee from Europe who came to America in the early 40s. Speaks with an accent. Humble. The injustice he’s endured have colored his outlook.

Juror Twelve
Early 30s. Advertising exec. Slick, bright, aloof. Sees people as percentages, polls and graphs – not as human beings.

60s. A very wealthy businessman. Widowed.

Early 20s. His daughter. An independent and beautiful young woman who looks after her father’s well-being.
