Breakdown

Lauren:
Female, late 20’s. Attractive, opinionated, arrogant and insecure all at once. Her romantic life is a disaster that she revels in and her constant caustic observations on social absurdities are cutting and yet deeply funny. As much as she rejects convention - particularly the convention of marriage - she feels deeply threatened by it, as her friends’ acceptance of it is clearly changing everything around her.

Allison:
Female, late 20’s. Lauren’s best friend since high school. Confident, East Coast beauty, easy-going, a winner. She has it all and you can’t even hate her for it because she’s genuinely happy, nice and generous. Underneath the sunny fun girl, however, lurks a bridezilla, hell-bent on attaining her just share of marital happiness.

Mark:
Male, Thirty. Allison’s boyfriend. The kind of good looks that blend into a crowd. He becomes sexually obsessed with Lauren after an unplanned quickie, but nonetheless proposes to Allison, telling Lauren it’s all a part of his pursuit of her. His deviousness hides beneath a bland average guy persona.

Catherine:
Female, early 20’s. Lauren’s cousin visiting from the Midwest. Practical and innocent, insecure about her boyfriend, whom she suspects is no longer very interested in her, naive, but smarter than she or anyone around her realizes. Just out of college and ready for her life.

Ryan:
Male, early 20’s. Catherine’s boyfriend. An aspiring Academic and Intellectual, following the latest, hippest academic trends. Neurotic, full of borrowed ideas, a strong belief that he knows everything contrasted against an obvious lack of life experience. He reverses completely when his theories are proved wrong and he falls head over heels in love with Lauren, with a deep sense of romantic wonder.
