Breakdown

All roles in DONOGOO require versatile actors, skilled in comedy and excellent with language. 14 actors will cover 64 roles. For this EPA, actors will be asked to read one of six monologues from the play, each of which correspond to one or more of the 14 character tracks.

Below is the breakdown of the tracks and corresponding audition material.

Track 1:
-Lamendin (Lead, 30s-50s, highly intelligent and educated, failed architect and painter, skilled at comedy, thinks on his feet)
Actors auditioning for the following track will read LAMENDIN side


Track 2:
-Benin (Lamendin’s best friend, interested in everything. 30s-60s. Also plays 1st Pioneer & Stockholder)
Actors auditioning for the following track will read BENIN side


Track 3:
-Miguel Rufisque (A quack psychiatrist 60s), also plays Le Trouhadec (An intellectual geographer 60s-70s)
Actors auditioning for the following track will read MIGUEL RUFISQUE side


Track 4:
-Margajat (a crooked Bank Director at a failing bank. 50s. Highly intelligent and crafty. Also plays the Happy Idiot),
-Bank Director (Imposing presence, intelligence), Fat Man, Sweaty Man, German Client (Passerby), Pioneer, and 1st Newcomer (40s-50s very versatile comic actor)
-Bartender, Factory Worker, Second Colonial, The Boss, and Mathieu (40s-50s, intelligent, rough hewn, major supporting role)

Track 5:
-Young Man (25, Major supporting role, comedy skills, rough edges but likeable. Also plays Berber Beggar)
-Joseph (Early 20s, Earnest young man, starts out as a waiter, becomes an adventurer)
-Groom, Indian Guide, and Clipoteaux (18-28, All ethnicities)
-Third Colonial, 1st Adventurer, and 2nd Newcomer (25-40, Versatile actor, good at comedy)
-First American, and Joris (25-40, Versatile actor)
-Second American, Native Boy, Steward, Newsboy, and Waiter (18-25, All ethnicities)

Track 6:
-Ample Woman, Café Owner, Sophie, Colonial Woman, Travel Agent, Assistant, and 2nd Woman (Character actress 40s-50s, versatile comedian)
-Pretty Young Woman, Tour Guide, Girl, Woman, 1st Stockholder and Leila (Versatile, exotic, attractive comic actress 18-26. All ethnicities)
