Seeking
Equity actor/singers for roles in the play Blackberry Daze. Local DC metro actors preferred. All characters are African-American.

Preparation
Prepare a 2 min monologue. also prepare 16 bars of jazz, blues or gospel. Bring sheet music for accompanist. Bring picture and resume stapled together.

Seeking:

Herman Camm
Gambler, ladies man, 30-40. Baritone

Mae Lou
Carrie’s mother, lives in Virginia farmhouse, Herman’s wife. Contralto (Role CAST, actors will be considered for possible replacement if needed)

Carrie
Mae Lou’s (adopted) daughter, age 16. Alto.

Pearl
Blues singer, 30s. Mezzo-soprano (Role CAST, actors will be considered for possible replacement if needed)

Actor 1:
Male. To play multiple characters: Willie-WWI soldier, Pearl’s husband, 20's and Simon-ballplayer with the Negro League, Carrie’s boyfriend, late teens. Tenor

Actor 2:
Female. To play multiple characters: Ginnie-Carrie’s aunt, sister of Carrie’s biological mother Alto and Annie Mae-Pearl’s sister, mid 40s Alto, and Hester-best friend of Carrie, late teens. Alto
