Preparation
Please prepare a contemporary monologue no more than 2 minutes in length.

Also prepare a brief song if auditioning for the musical. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.

Audrey:
late 20s-mid 30’s. Sweet, vulnerable denizen of Skid Row. Eager to please, with dangerously low self esteem. Smiles through the pain with her huge heart and simple dreams. Great Broadway/Rock belter.

Chiffon, Ronnette, Crystal:
20s, women of color. Hip, smart, Greek chorus/girl group of street urchins. All-knowing and full of flare - great movers. Dazzling soloists and skilled musicians with ability to hold intricate three part girl group harmonies.

Orin and others:
30’s, the sadistic dentist plus a variety of other Skid Row characters. Tall, threatening, comic, character baritone.

Audrey Two Voice:
an offstage FEMALE singer. Any ethnicity. Must have a ferocious, high belt. Think Effie White.

Audrey Two Body:
not a puppet. A fierce male drag queen of any ethnicity who can lip-sync the heck out of the role.
